No, Governor Scott,  you lose, because  you have refused to accept the will of the people in the amendment vote.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

I don't know if this is the place to post this, Nathan, but congratulations on your soon-to-be accession to the presidency. You'll have an excellent tenure in office, I am sure. Smiley

Scott can flaunt the will of the electorate, who rejected capital relocation, and have his fantasy office in Buffalo, if he insists on carrying out his self obsessive scheme, while the real business of the Northeast goes on in the Assembly in New York City.

I have been locked out of Scott's office thread, because obviously he is afraid to debate or engage me on this issue.

Anybody who ignores the will of the electorate on a constitutional amendment is on the wrong side of the argument.

Not necessarily. I think that the electorate has spoken, yes, but I also think we have a pressing concern that needs dealt with. We need to go about this in the right way and we haven't seen what's unfolding yet on the part of the Governor. The question is Do you trust Governor Scott? I do. Governor Scott has the courage and ability to take this region to new heights regardless of where the capital is. The fact is that New York City proper doesn't have enough land for us anymore. You either move the entire capital or you have two capitals, splitting between the cities as administrative centers. For now, it appears this is the approach we will have to take. We must trust the Governor to follow through on this process in a fair and judicious manner.

The decision of the electorate must be followed in something as serious as a constitutional amendment.

Otherwise, the will of the people means nothing.

If Governor Scott and the Northeast Representatives can come up with an acceptable alternative, and having two capitals is hardly an acceptable alternative, then I say go for it.

The key is, however, an acceptable alternative, i.e. acceptable to the people of the Northeast.

The Buffalo proposal is clearly not acceptable to the people, as the vote for ratification failed miserably.

I have already seen how open Governor Scott is to debating this issue with me, as he has locked me out of the Governor's office thread.  Not even sworn in, and already he is running a closed shop.

OK, the office thread of Governor Scott has been unlocked to me, but I have stated not to engage Scott in the amendment debate again unless I am provoked into doing so.

Governor Scott clearly does not want to engage me in debate on this issue, so I will leave it for now.
