We should all have the Freedom to Eat what we want (except other humans). I know I'd try it, just for the novelty of it.

Why, if both participants are willing?

Not me.  That's exactly who I want to sit beside on the plane.

But I don't know what the big deal is about horse meat.
It is usually considered taboo in large parts of Europe in the same way that cats and gods are. […]

Excuse me, but I think Communion is fairly widespread even in godless-communist Europe. Smiley
Wow, that is one remarkable typo.

I've had horse, yeah, though only the dried version you have between your bread. It's not a very common meat anymore over here, but it's not exactly exotic. Tastes just like, well, dried meat.

So it's true what they say about Germans.

Anyways, I suppose I would try it. I tried Kangaroo for the first time a few weeks ago. We can get it at the local grocery store.

Hey, it turns out that you can find it pretty easily in the UK.  Just look for packages of "frozen beef lasagne."  Yep, that's right.  I just saw this on PBS last night.  Apparently there's some French company supplying "beef" for lasagne that is actually horsemeat.

I actually laughed out loud at the irony.  Imagine that.  You might expect that in the United States.  Here, we have "Texas" chili from New Jersey, "champagne" from California, and the like, but in EU member states, with their panties in tight little wads about the accuracy of labeling, and where you can't call something bologna unless it's born, killed, and processed a one square mile region in Tuscany or whatever, you get horse that's called "beef."  The irony is delicious, and so, maybe, is the horse.

Anyway opebo, if you're in the UK or France, try the "beef."  Cheesy

ah, the French "beef" inspired the thread, did it?  You have to admit that the irony is beautiful.

Well, better late than never.  I really don't watch the news much nowadays.  It's usually depressing.
