New Montana wonders why they're still called New Montana, and changes its name back to Colorado.

The Republic of Texas is unnerved by Mexico's increasing regional influence and declares war, attempting to take over all of Mexico's claims in the former United States of America and (hopefully) make them part of the Republic.

Also, Mexico attempts to take over the states of Nevada, California, and Colorado.

Unhappy about being annexed by a state to which they feel no allegiance, the majority non-Hispanic counties in northern Arizona secede and are welcomed with open arms into the ever-growing Holy Empire of Deseret.

Seeing hostile powers to the west, north, and south, the remnant of New Montana seeks entry into the United Mexican States as the 36th State.  Mexico then successfully invades and annexes the states of California and Nevada, then sets it sights on Texas.  This causes a full-out war between Mexico, Texas, and the remainder of the UCA.  Hawaii, effectively having been liberated by Mexico's takeovers, rebuilds its kingdom and forms an alliance with Mexico and provides its support for the expansion.

The Holy Empire of Deseret and Republic of Texas, fearing Mexican expansion, form a temporary alliance and declare war on Mexico.

UCA missionaries inspire uprisings in Indiana, southern Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, South Dakota, and Nebraska.  Midwestern League forces are able to subdue most of these, but UCA forces occupy Nebraska and southern Missouri (everything south of the Missouri River) on the pretext of protecting upstanding Christians.

Northern California (north of Kern County), with its cooler climate and lower Hispanic population, joins Cascadia.
