IDS Election Update

Emperor:

9 - SJoyce    56%
Jbrase,  SJoyce,  Dereich,  jerryarkansas,  SPC,  Hagird,  Supersonic,  Pingvin,  John Dibble

7 - Zanas46   44%
Alfred,  McGovern,  Seatown,  badgate,  Hasemite,  Adam Griffin,  Zanas

Imperial Legislature:

9 - jerryarkansas    56%
Jbrase,  SJoyce,  Dereich,  jerryarkansas,  SPC,  Hagird,  Supersonic,  Pingvin,  John Dibble

7 - Velasco      44%
Alfred,  McGovern,  Seatown,  badgate,  Hasemite,  Adam Griffin,  Zanas

Last vote counted: John Dibble
Total Votes Counted: 16

The Atlasian Sentinel cannot currently project a winner in either of the IDS elections, as they are too close to call. So far voting has been straight down the line, with all who have voted for SJoyce for Emperor, voting for Jerry for the legislature, and all voting Zanas for emperor in turn, voting for Velasco for legislature.

The Sentinel can project Senators HagridoftheDeep and Matt from VT have won reelection. Congratulations Senators.

Isn't Matt still in fourth place?

Just for the record, I'm confident, but we're still not operating under the assumption that anything is a done deal.

Hagrid has a huge surplus that carries over to Matt except two voters. Matt is in second place.

Right, but on the second ballot, due to how much Hagrid is over the quota and how many people who voted Hagrid second preferenced Matt, Matt gets swept in as well.

Eh, it depends on how big the quota is though. And who knows what Labor's stange "final push" strategy will be like?

How do you count the quota again?  If there are 4 slots, you divide the total votes cast not exhausted less one by 5 no?

Quota is [Number of votes/(Number of seats+1)]+1

There are five seats, so you divide by six and add 1?

I thought it was [Number of votes/(Number of seats+1)]? So as of right now (including invalidated votes because I'm lazy), [90/(5+1)] = 15.

That's really extreme? The Legislature is shaping up to have a partisan vote on the official snack. The last game reform Constitutional amendment was almost-entirely a partisan vote. Elections like this seem to be a thing of the past, sadly.

You seem to enjoy with polarization, SJoyce. On the other hand, I didn't give my opinion on the official snack and, believe me, it's not a capital issue for me.  The choice between bretzels and cornbreads won't make me losing any sleep and I really don't care if we adopt both or if we give apples the status of official food of the Legislature.

And for past elections, at least you have an opposition. My impression is that there was less ideological diversity in your Golden Era. What we need is more independents or members from other parties and a slightly inferior number of federalists (I include you in the count, whatever your party registration is). Nowadays we have an army of Fed zombie voters that make outcomes fairly predictable, thanks to Operation Carpetbagger, and our independent citizens (I mean people who isn't from the two main parties in the South) aren't very active lately.

I like cornbread and it symbolizes our culture - 'bretzels' do not (they're largely Pennsylvanian).

Bit less party diversity, maybe, but there was a fair amount of ideological diversity: Hagrid, myself, Duke, Kal, Mecha, Jbrase - we're not all carbon copies of each other.

Y'all were the ones doing the carpetbagging, not us. And there's like 5 independent citizens, so regardless of how active they are...

So you are going to turn a trivial issue into a partisan one.

I'm not a carbon copy of Adam, Zanas or Seatown. I see that you, Hagrid, Jbrase, etcetera are pretty similar on the ideological compass.

Y'all were the ones doing the carpetbagging, not us. And there's like 5 independent citizens, so regardless of how active they are...

Registration figures and the people who come at the booths in election days are pretty eloquent. Operation Carpetbagger is a fact

No, I'm going to do what's best for this region, and 'round here we see a bunch more cornbread than bretzels.

Registration figures and the people who come at the booths in election days are pretty eloquent.

That doesn't logically follow. You're claiming that the right had a massive registration advantage and now are claiming they're carpetbagging, and your evidence is that they still have a registration advantage?

That's right. You guys had a massive advantage, we eliminated most of it, and thus the right proceeded to crapetbag to pad their numbers once again.

Mhmm. There are 7 Feds in the region who do not live in the region IRL (PiT, Ronnie, Siloch, Supersonic, Hagrid, SPC, and Pingvin) and could thus be considered carpetbaggers. Of those, PiT, Hagrid, SPC, Pingvin, and Supersonic were around before any kind of Operation Cottonfield really kicked off. So your grand carpetbagging effort is two people, neither of whom have voted yet in the current regional election. Anyone else the Feds recruited are actual residents of this region IRL.

The right had always advantage in this region. However, when you have felt threatened by the slight increase of the competitiveness in electoral races, you have recruited new people totally foreign to the region. It does not suppose a major problem for me new people coming from the outside. Nevertheless, you have resorted to the same trick of which you accused us, increasing spectacularly the number of registered federalists until the point of supposing practically the half of the census. The majority of these new or old federalists do not contribute anything to the debate in the region. At least, it looks like to me a hypocritical attitude from your side to have done a campaign of discredit against us for several months. Losing a few elections in a game is not a drama for me; some of you seem to believe that the possibility of a change would be the Apocalypse and the End of the Times.

As for cornbreads and bretzels, your festering is somewhat ridiculous or understandable for me. I never believed possible that it was turning into an object of dispute. If you have limited yourself to explain the advantages of the snack of your preference... "The best for our region" is eating one or another!!! I'll go to a Turkish restaurant or something! Grin

Come on, this never will be a partisan nor ideological issue, by any means.
