He'll be 86 in 2018, so presumably unable to last beyond that anyway.  The surprise is simply that he's announcing it this early.

So is the United States going to maintain sanctions on Cuba until Fidel Castro dies, or until both Castro brothers bite dust?

In all honesty, I think they'll be maintained until Cuba adopts capitalism.

I like how the "rising young star" is this guy:

Gotta say, America's rising young Cuban star is a lot more impressive:

I wonder how the two of them will get along when each is the president of their respective countries?   Wink

He'd already announced earlier that he thought have a two-term limit would be a good idea.  Shame he couldn't convince Chavez of that while he was there.  I think Raul is hoping to have a Chinese-style transition.

Jeez, wishing somebody dead?  That's a bit harsh, especially coming from a fellow old.

Impressive how?  As a male model?  Because I'm sure as far as intellectual ability and so forth Canel is probably head and shoulders above Rubio.

Yes, chiefly as a male model. Though I doubt either of them are very impressive when it comes to smarts.

Intentional misspelling of course - Pole-ock or however you spell it is probably forbidden so as not to offend Kalwedget.

Should've ended at least twenty years ago.
