Ok sorry for the question at a tense moment, but if a coalition wins more than 54% in a Senate region, does it mean anything, or do they still get 54%? Is this true nationwide for the Camera?
If you win even more votes, then yes you get those seats.

In France, for the Senate, with 6% reporting, Monti's leading with 39%, over PD with 33%, PdL with 13% and M5S with 8%. Tongue

Surprisingly, Monti sounded like the winner rather than the loser of the election, at least as far as the beginning of his speech was concerned. He stressed the fact that his party more or less had to start from scratch and only had small (financial?) means and very limited experience so he is content with the performance of his party (if I got that right Tongue).

Indeed. He's completely out of touch.

Seats

Umbria: 4 PD 1 PDL 1 Grillo 1 Monti
Liguria: 5 PD 1 PDL 1 Grillo 1 Monti
Basilicata: 3 PD 1 Centro Democratico (Tabacci's list) 1 PDL 1 Monti
No. He did pretty well there - 3.4% - but the seat goes to SEL at 4%.

Sorry. You are right. CD was leading SEL earlier in the count. The late areas put SEL in the lead and I forgot to notice.

45 in Settimo Torinese: again Bersani outpolled Berlusconi according to the municipality website
16 in Alpignano: same thing

No Fini in parliament right? As I can see he only runs for Camera, and unless UDC should jump from 1.78 and to 2 or above, he won't get in?

Berlusconi has now cracked 29%. The margin is down to 0.7%. 94% of precincts have reported.

Senate breakdown will be 119 for Bersani to 110 for Berlusconi. We have to see what the overseas vote brings but it still won't be nearly enough to hit 158 (even with Monti's 19 seats).

why is Repubblica giving 114 Berlusconi 113 Bersani at the Senate?

Bersani is at this point still probably going to 'win', but it's the sort of win that might as well be a loss for all the good it'll do Italy and its political system. Inexcusable.

No idea. SKY gave me the other numbers.

Grillo was the only good campaigner of the 3. Bersani's a bureaucrat and Berlusconi's lost his populist mojo.

After tonight, anyone that says that Berlusconi has "lost his mojo" needs some help.  Wink

Here's one thing we should all be able to agree on: the first exit polls in this country suck and Silvio always under polls.

I know, and it's sickening.

La Repubblica has Berlusconi 0.4% higher than Google Politics & Elections but all the other numbers are the same. Any idea why?

He got bailed out in 2011. Had he been forced to stay in power, he would have been finished for good.

Biella Clown 33.3 (-20.0) Left 27.7 (-6.4) Troll 24.2 Right 11.3. Last of the lesser Piemontese provinces.

Sondrio Clown 45.3 (-18.1) Left 23.8 (-1.2) Troll 15.2 Right 12.4. Way up high in the mountains of Lombardy, where the Lega Nord tops the polls and Berlusconi usually comes second (not this year though, PD did.)

Brescia Clown 41.6 (-15.5) Left 27.4 (-1.8) Troll 16.3 Right 9.7. And here the PD actually came first as a party (not that that matters under the terms of the electoral system.)

Rovigo Clown 30.5 (-17.0) Left 30.3 (-5.8) Troll 24.7 Right 9.3. Quite the bad result, not retaking this southernmost Venetian province facing Ferrara across the Pò.

Venice Left 30.0 (-7.9) Clown 27.6 (-20.6) Troll 27.3 Right 9.8. Kind of makes up for it though.

Udine Clown 28.7 (-20.1) Left 28.7 (-6.4) Troll 25.4 Right 13.0. 107 votes difference. Still one precinct in Gorica out.

Bologna Left 47.4 (-6.7) Troll 21.0 Clown 18.4 (-13.7) Right 8.9. And that completes Emilia Romagna. PD 13, Five Star 4, PdL 4, Con Monti 1. Yeah, that's right, no seats for SEL. I'm not sure what system Italy uses, they would be getting one here under Ste Lague, and while they wouldn't under D'Hondt neither would they in Basilicata. Or wait, is the Senate threshold for coalition members 3%? That would explain it, they failed that here.

Arezzo Left 40.7 (-7.7) Clown 23.7 (-13.4) Troll 23.2 Right 8.4
Grosseto Left 37.1 (-7.1) Troll 27.0 Clown 24.9 (-15.1) Right 7.2. And that completes Tuscany. PD 9, Five Star 4, PdL 3, Con Monti 1, SEL 1

Ancona Left 36.5 (-13.9) Troll 29.6 Clown 18.9 (-14.8) Right 10.6
Macerata Left 29.7 (-12.5) Troll 29.3 Clown 26.1 (-15.5) Right 10.6. And that completes the Marche. PD 5, Five Star 1, PdL 1, Con Monti 1

Pescara Troll 29.4, Left 27.6 (-12.5), Clown 26.5 (-17.8), Right 7.7. The most urban province in Abruzzo.

Lecce Clown 33.7 (-12.1) Left 29.9 (-6.5) Troll 23.2 Right 9.5. The tip of Apulia.

Palermo Clown 34.3 (-19.8) Troll 28.2 Left 27.0 (-1.9) Right 5.8. Grillo ahead if you look at individual parties.

Núoro Left 38.4 (-7.1) Troll 24.5 Clown 20.6 (-12.1) Right 5.9
Olbia - Tempio Clown 31.9 (-19.5) Left 28.7 (-6.4) Troll 27.8 Right 6.0
Sassari Left 33.5 (-9.4) Troll 29.0 Clown 23.1 (-18.4) Right 6.6. The three north Sardinian provinces, only in the south are there some precincts left now.

Bailed out? Please. He was forced out with terrible ratings and was "finished" then, too. People need to start being a little more objective when it comes to this guy. Just admit that he has serious sway, like it or not, with the Italian people.

I admit that that's factually the case, but I'm still absolutely intellectually and for that matter spiritually baffled as to why Berlusconi had any mojo in the first place. What is wrong with this country's political culture?! Giulio Andreotti and then this scumbag.
