If Bush is his opponent, I guess I'll have to cast a third ballot for Romney.

See what I am talking about, folks?

Word out of Florida is that Bush is likely to run, and Rubio is likely to decide not to run as a result. Destroy Christie early on, and Romney has an "in" for "third time's the charm" since Ryan would choose not to run if Romney throws his hat into the ring.

Bush Vs. Romney. You heard it here first, folks.

I'll make sure another hack Politico prediction is in my back pocket, thanks.

I don't see the funny in that. In the context of the time, Eisenhower was a conservative.

Not really. Robert Taft was a conservative, not Eisenhower.

No. While Taft was more conservative than Eisenhower, Ike was not the underling of Dewey as he is sometimes portrayed. The difference was that Taft wanted to rollback the New Deal, which was obviously politically impossible. Eisenhower was content to leave the New Deal together while he focused on foreign affairs, but he resisted LBJ's attempts to expand it numerous times.

Eisenhower only ran as a Republican because the Democrats popularity was waning and he wanted to make sure non-interventionists like Taft didn't have a shot at the Presidency.  He was not then or be now a conservative in any context.

is there anyone but a certain poster who thinks there is a remote chance Romney will even run, let alone have a chance to win? This is ludicrous.

So he's a conservative that didn't really do much of anything conservative in his eight years in office. Gotcha.

He was a moderate then and he's very moderate now. He certainly wasn't conservative.

There is no chance Romney will run again, unfortunately. The only way a run by him would even be remotely possible was if our economy completely collapsed and scandals plagued the frontrunners, causing Romney to jump in during Summer 2015 after many pleas from Republican leaders.

If the 2016 Republican primaries are Bush v. Romney, maybe the Republicans should give up on being a political party and become a show on Comedy Central.

How is anything he said conservative?

Watch the interview tomorrow. He's also chosen to make CPAC his first public speech since the election.

No, it's lamenting the economic and cultural decline of America. Rubio, Jindal, Cain, etc. are proof that race has nothing to do with it, but please continue to spew Democratic myths.

The Republican Party caused this manufactured crisis.  They are agents of economic decline.  \

Yeah, this nonsense was ALMOST a worn out joke by 2012, but it will be deader than dead in 2016 after eight years of decline under Obama *rolls eyes*

Oh, the economic meltdown of 2007-2009 didn't happen, and the recovery beginning in March 2009  is a delusion?

Barack Obama so far has done nothing to hurt the chances of any Democratic nominee to win the Presidential election of 2016.

The only way I see Mitt running again is if Republicans are absolutely convinced they can't beat Hillary and they need a sacrificial lamb again. Even then I am not sure Mitt would want to run again.

If for whatever reason Romney does decide to run again after that last campaign, I'd have to imagine he'll need to wait a few cycles at least. Running every year despite failure eventually leads you into Kucinich territory.

I don't know how many times the "Romney created jobs while not raising taxes" thing has been debunked, but I'll debunk it again. He raised fees all over Massachusetts. ITS THE SAME THING AS RAISING TAXES. It's just a wealth transfer from one form of revenue to another. That's called tricky harry accounting and I expected someone like you to fall for it. And I know how much you hate wealth redistribution.

Given the constraints imposed by being Governor of Massachusetts, arguably the most liberal state in the Union, Romney did a great job all things considered. Had he been Governor of Texas, for example, he would have done a much better job than Perry and Bush. He would be a great, conservative POTUS much like Eisenhower, for example.

Tee-hee, you think Eisenhower was a conservative.
