Okay guys, I have been thinking about this lately. What states' borders do you think that should change? I think that Florida should have kept their borders... like this:

This was before the Adams-Onis Treaty... Florida went all the way to the Mississippi... I somewhat wish that they kept those borders, but General Andrew Jackson attacked West Florida, then surrendered at the present borders:

that's what I think should have happened...

If there are multiple states that you think need to be changed, just say....

I'd be okay with fewer of them.  Great big Canadian province-sized states all with the population of California.  But only if we decommission the United States Senate.

LOLno... I'd be living in Florida now if it kept its 1810 borders.

Shouldn't this be under Political Geography and Demographics?

Well this seems somewhat off topic...right?

Well, you're still talking about political geography though.

Connecticut should have kept their proposed borders, all the way to the Pacific Ocean.....

Shouldn't this be a multiple choice poll? For instance if you move one state's borders, wouldn't you also have to another state's borders to accommodate?  Just an observation.  For me, its my native Oklahoma that should expand to include most of the Texas Panhandle north of Lubbock all the way to the New Mexico Border.  Texas is big enough as it is.  Although, that might be enough to tip Texas blue, but oh well.

In fact there's a related thread going on now at that board. If a mod here wants to move it, I have no objection.

Michigan should get Toledo and a small strip of northern Ohio along the Michigan border back.

Didn't Michigan and Ohio almost go to war over that?

All the states whose boundaries are formed by the Mississippi River should change over to the current position of the river, rather than where it was two hundred years ago. The river's channel has changed substantially since then.

If anything Florida should only reach the Apalachicola. And New York should give up the rightfully Jersey owned Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Really, Staten Island should probably be in New Jersey, too, but nobody wants it. And fix the weirdness near Springfield. I'm sure there are a couple other oddities.

Some states should be eliminated. Vermont and NH should be combined, RI i combined with CT, and Delaware with MD. The panhandle of OK needs to be ceded to TX, and yes, the panhandle of Florida ceded to the states north of it. The W Virginia and Virginia borders need to be reworked. The Western tail of MD should go to Virginia and W. Virginia. The northern handle of Idaho needs to go to Washington.

Wisconsin should get the UP from Michigan. They don't need it.
