All billionaires should be executed, thus eliminating this problem.

At the current rate of inflation a Trillionaire would be worth $500 billion today.  That's larger than Wal-Mart as a company. That's ridiculous.  There's no entrepreneurship worthy of that much individual wealth.  It would be someone starting up not just one but a good twenty five Fortune 500 companies in their lifetime and keeping a healthy portion of stock in each one.  Freest market ever and nobody's that good.

No way does this happen and if it does this planet would be a dystopian nightmare.

No, not at all good buddy.  It so happens they're not billionaires anyway.

Disgusting? Someone made a lot of money... Who cares? It's their prerogative.

Yep, totally fair to allow one individual to monopolize the currency and control a sick proportion of the world's wealth.

That's their prerogative, though!

In real terms, we've probably already had a trillionaire. John D. Rockefeller was once worth ~$663 billion in real terms in the late 1930s (1.53% of US GDP). Plenty of older individuals would probably have been higher if we had the proper statistics.

FWIW, there have been several corporations worth over $1 trillion. Saudi Aramco is estimated to be worth between $2 and $10 trillion today. The Dutch East India Company was worth $7.4 trillion in real terms in 1637.

Properly understood, what they are controlling is not 'wealth' or 'currency' but other people thorugh a political (State) power merely represented by wealth or currency.

When one person has $1 trillion, he's not going to be spending most of that money, and that's $1 trillion taken out of the economy. How is that not dangerous to the economy? That's $1 trillion taken away from everyone else.

Doesn't matter when the Republican Party inundates the public until they believe the deflections and Constitutional grandstanding that aggressively divert attention from the actual harms of wealth inequality and hoarding. When the issue isn't allowed to be accurately and fairly discussed, the talking points become reality and this somehow becomes an issue of "freedom" for the wealthy and "limited government" involvement in people's lives or "job creators" blessing us with their heavenly "hard-earned" money. All while the Democratic Party sits in the corner scratching its head.

Billionaires aren't Scrooge McDuck. They don't make a swimming pool fool of $100 bills. The bulk of the money is invested, which provides capital for businesses.

If anything, Brazil is going away from the traditional inequality of a plantation society to full modernity while the USA increasingly resembles the dystopian scenario of the 1927 film Metropolis.

No, biplanes are not making a comeback in America and flying between skyscrapers.

You're really buying into the whole #TrueLeftist thing aren't you? I guess it's in your nature to go whole-hog, first with libertarianism, then with Republicans, and now this. But in any case, my guess is that this would be the result of much more than mere slick business practices and inheritance. Inflation would probably have a very heavy hand in it, at least that's what I'd guess. Maybe someone steals or counterfeits the trillion dollar coin we were discussing a few months ago?

With the Fed's policies, we may all be trillionaires by then.
