I apologise for the all caps. *cringe*

My reasoning is fairly basic - the people elect a President trusting his or her (who are we kidding?) judgement in choosing his successor - the Vice-President. In the event that the Vice Presidency's vacant it makes sense that the President's successor should also be chosen by him, hence a member of the Cabinet.

Furthermore, a member of the President's Cabinet is more likely to be closer to his philosophy and ideology than is the PPT - who could be any random Senator, meaning that Atlasians would be more likely to get an executive that's closely aligned with the views and outlook of the departing President.

And, yeah, I think we can all agree we can't afford some freak incident where Yankee becomes President and leaves the Senate. Wink

For one thing, I would like to see if someone is opposed this and get at least one good reason not to. And that may sound nuts, but I don't feel comfortable on Constitutional Amendments when the Senate is an echo chamber and then uh-oh it just failed the Midwest and Pacific or the Mideast and the IDS and thus is rejected.

Well, I'd rather have the SoIA come before the AG, but I don't feel like that's really a critical change. The AG is often either inactive or inexperienced, whereas, at least technically speaking, the AG should at least be familiar with setting an agenda, reaching out to the regions, and divvying up cash.

Aye

For some reason I don't feel comfortable with this, though.

Vote on Senate Passage of the Presidential Succession Amendment:

Aye (Cool: Averroës Nix, Ben, Franzl, HagridoftheDeep, jdb, Napoleon, NC Yankee and Snowstalker
Nay (0):
Abstain (0):

Didn't Vote (1): Oakvale
Vacant Seats (1): Spamage

With eight votes in the affirmative and none in the negative the bill has passed the Senate and is sent to the Regions for ratification.

I was really confused as to why I apparently didn't vote on this despite clearly remembering doing so but then I realised I encountered the "It has not been 20 seconds blah blah blah" thing and must have forgot to resubmit. *cringe*

There is something about this amendment. I voted Nay initially and then changed it to Aye a few seconds later, as I shook it off, somewhat. Tongue
