Hello, Federalists—

Welcome to our new thread for day-to-day business. Please bear with me here: This first post is always going to be a work-in-progress. I hope to keep it updated with current party events, so make sure you check back often!

Mostly, we'll use this thread to hold the endorsement votes and, where necessary, primaries, that happen to fall outside the windows of our conventions. I've looked very briefly over the election schedule, and it doesn't look like the dates match up in a very convenient way. So please stay on yours toes!

Also, you'll note the opening poster: It's meant as a shout-out to nation's rich military history and the men and women who've sacrificied so much for Atlasia. It's also currently standing in as a party logo on our Wiki page (please check it out. It doesn't have to be our official logo, but I don't think it hurts to leave it up for the time being. When things are a bit quieter when can decide on an official logo.

Other than that, I just want to thank everyone for their continued involvement with the party. Personally, it means a lot.

Thanks,

Hagrid

If any non-Federalist wishes to seek the endorsement of the Federalist Party in the Class A race for IDS Legislature, please drop by sometime before March 11th. We may endorse up to two additional candidates.

As soon as he declares, he'll be endorsed. Since it takes time to vote on endorsements, we've got to start one week before the election so we can get it done. We also use this deadline so we can stipulate how many candidates we'll endorse. If Gamecock seeks re-election, theoretically we could end up endorsing four candidates for three seats. I don't see that happening, but like I said... we need a deadline.

I'll note now that in bigger races, Federalist candidates must declare before a certain time so we know whether a primary will be necessary. Anyone who this policy pertains to should read the by-laws as soon as they can. Even so, I'll be warning candidates in advance so they know the last possible day to declare (this applies to senate elections, presidential elections, and regional executive elections).

Thanks for bringing it up, Wolf! Smiley

All right. Since no other candidates lobbied for our endorsement in the IDS Legislature race, Dereich will be our only candidate.

At this time, any non-Federalists wishing to seek the endorsement of the Federalist Party in next week's election for the Mideast Assembly may do so now. We may endorse up to one candidate (yesterday was the cutoff to determine numbers, and if the election were held yesterday, from what I know, the assembly would have consisted of three seats—since we have two Federalists already in the race, there is room for one more endorsement). Note that any Federalist who declares after today will still automatically recieve the party's support.

Actually, there are three Federalist candidates in the race already (Inks declared in the old "Candidate Declaration Thread") but that's not a big problem since there are at least seven candidates (myself, Inks, IdahoBlueDogDem, shua, Lumine, Talleyrand, Gass), which means that the new Assembly will consist of five members. Thus, we can theoretically endorse two candidates who are not members of our party, and, in my humble opinion, shua should be one of them. Wink

I would like to petition the Federalists for consideration of endorsement for, at the very least, preferences in the Special Senate election. As I've noted previously, my past life in Atlasia was that of a conservative leader even after my own personal conservative credentials began to wane. I'm not going to pretend as though I'll be a champion of the right as I once was, but I believe I've done enough in the past to assure you I am a friend. My party, the Republican Party, gave way to the Federalists once I left Atlasia. So in a sense, there would be a fractured right if I hadn't stepped aside and allowed Inks to fold into today's Federalists. Some of my strongest Atlasian allies are on the right and I have every intention of further bridging the broad gap between the Federalists and the leftward parties. As a member of the TPP I value activity and competition above all else in Atlasia. If it weren't for the Federalists, there wouldn't be anything worth playing for. I look forward to a long and healthy relationship with you should I find myself somehow, someday elected to the Senate. With any luck, you can help me reach that goal in the event Clarence doesn't make the cut.

Might I also remind you all that I am the only candidate in the race who does not identify with the Democrats of America. Wink

Thanks for the clarification, ZuWo. Smiley I thought I might've missed Inks.

Anyhow, we'll have an endorsement vote for the Mideast race on March 17th.

As for the special senate election, our by-laws actually only allow us to endorse one candidate (in this case, clarence). If it's worth anything, fezzy, you'll definitely be getting my second preference. I'd urge my fellow Federalists to consider giving you their second preferences as well.

One thing I'm looking into for the next convention is formalizing a process to hand out second preference endorsements. It might be worthy of a discussion. Situations like these are always difficult to navigate.

We definately need to look into changing that, especially when one looks at our position stragetically, being able to endorse for second preference makes a lot of sense.

I concur that we definitely should endorse Shua if we have the ability to do so.

Due to ideological similarities, I would also like to ask for an endorsement in the Mideast Assembly race.

My two cents: I think we should endorse both shua and LuminevonReuental. shua is a liberal in the European rather than the American sense with strong pro-life credentials and is an Atlasian with an impressive resume. On the other hand, LuminevonReuental is a new player who seems highly motivated to make an impact in our region - precisely the kind of person this game needs. The fact that his views are close to the Federalist mainstream is helpful, too. Wink

You will get our endorsement automatically.

Also, the ballot for non-Federalists endorsements will be up shortly. We may endorse up to two candidates.
