I'm represented by a 5, a 9, and a 6...

Isn't it just great to have Hillary as your most conservative representative in Congress...

Also good to hear about Sen. Lindsey Graham (D-FL)...

Most Liberal Members of Congress:

1) Jim McDermott (D-WA)
2) John Olver (D-MA) -- the guy who represents where I am right now
3) Chaka Fattah (D-PA)
4) Ron Lewis (D-GA)

apparentely if I were a Senator, I'd have a rating of 8. I would've voted the ACU position on these two:

Seat Belt Use. S 1072 (Roll Call 9)
2004-02-11
The Senate killed an amendment requiring state to either prove a 90 percent seat belt use rate or enact laws making it a primary crime not to use seat belts. States not meeting either requirement would lose highway construction funds.
ACU opposed this bill.

Internet Tax Moratorium. S 150 (Roll Call 75)
2004-04-29
The Senate approved a motion to move towards passage of legislation extending the Internet tax moratorium for four years.
ACU supported this bill.

and you people claim I'm an extremist.

so he's only one notch to the left of a bunch of far right wing nutcases. Wow, he sure isn't far right. I must be a moderate since I'm slightly to the right of Noam Chomsky.

He's not the far right winger people make him out to be.

While he is not extreme as Bunning, Inhofe, Coburn, Demint it doesn't mean he still isn't extreme are to the far right.  It just means those guys are even more extreme

My point is that people make the guy out to be the most conservative member in the Senate. That is wrong. As for him being far right in general, I still disagree. By the way, did you see the new approval ratings for PA, Smash? Finally! New numbers to argue about! Look at the PA 2006 Senate thread for more info.

He isn't the most conservative, but that doesn't mean he isn't far right wing.  Coburn, Bunning, Demint and Inhofe are further to the right but you could make a very valid argument that Santorum is the 5th most Conservative and without a doubt he is in the top 10

I don't base my decisions on what the National Journal does but they didn't include Santorum in the top 10 so to say he is "without a doubt" in the top 10 could be wrong.

Well I think most people would make the argument that Boxer is without a doubt among  the top 5 most liberal senators (and probably #1)  Yet she didn't make they National Journal top 10 most liberal either.

Santorum is top 10 most conservative and quite possilbly top 5

I think their is a Rob Bishop from Georgia also.  ACU has 3 different Bishop's listed.  Rob Bishop from Utah with scores in the 90's.  Rob Bishop from GA with scores of 48 & 35 the last 2 years &  "Rob" Bishop of NY (Tim) with scores of 12 & 4 the last 2 years

I think the Bishop from Georgia is "Sanford". Anyhow, it does seem to be very sloppy.

I think they just go by party affiliation.  Landrieu got a 17; she is a very Conservative Democrat.

Jeffords is listed as a Democrat not an (I), granted he caucuses with them & votes like a Dem, but he is an Independent

They gave a 4 to both Senators Boxer and Feinstein? This rating is worthless.

for life, it rates Hillary Clinton a 9, Ted Kennedy a 3, John Kerry a 5, and John Edwards a 10.  During the campaign season, Sean Hannity said over and over that the Kerry/Edwards ticket is so liberal, in terms of liberalness it would beat a Hillary Clinton/Ted Kennedy ticket. This proves him wrong.  The avg for Hillary and Ted is a 6.  The avg of the Johns is 7.5.  I always knew what he said was hogwash, but now I have numbers to prove my point.  Not that it's really signifigant anyways,  once you get so far left of right, the differences are rather miniscule...

Landrieu got a 32.  Her lifetime is a 17.

This is not a random number they assign to represent how they feel, but a superficial analysis of how they voted on issues of import to the ACU.

This also disprovest he right wing talking point that Kerry is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, although there had always been plenty of evidence against that.

I notice some members saying what their rating would be. Do they have an option on the site to show how someone would be rated? My guess is that I'd be between 88-92.

I feel good knowing that our taxes dollars are paying congressional salaraies so they can discuss seat belts.

Landreui is somewhat liberal but not an extremist. Of course compared to Boxes, Landreui would be very conservative.
