Mr. Chairman (or rather soon to be, but that technicality will be resolved soon),

could you please include the preface "SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE:" in front of the Internal Affairs?

Why not haul Snowguy in to see when he will start implementing legislation that has been passed.

I asked this in the Committee membership thread, but could it be possible to wait until after the special election to fill the third spot? You might get a more engaged member that way.

There are no processes to amend in committee, since the role of the committee in the legislative process is not binding on passage or failure. Now an amendment can be crafted during the deliberative process of the committee and then during the recommendation vote, vote to recommend that the Seante also pass or reject said amendment.

It has? I didn't notice where the NSC had actually altered the original text. Certainly the Chariman of the committee hasn't administered such a process, that I see. Not to mention that I just posted this same comment in that thread and he concured with my interpretation of the present rules.

Plus removing the ability of the whole Senate to consider amendments may actually lead to a situation where the committees doom a bill. Committees don't always reflect the opinion of the Senate as a whole, such as when all three members of the GOR rejected the VP Reform amendment at a point in time when most thought it was on the road to passage.

The other problem is it would be an arbitrary system since not all bills get considered by a committee.

Just a program note, this bill is now on the floor. If amendments be recommended by the committee, keep in mind that in order to be incorporated or adopted they would have to be offered on the floor of the Senate at this point.

I expect the Spring Savings Act to be on the floor today or tomorrow. Are we to expect the recommended change as amendments? If so, I would recommend working out who is to offer what in advance.

As for the unfortunate exchanges that transpired prior to the vote, I must ask that such exchanges that occur be as civil and respectfull as posssible. The Committees are for deliberation and investigation, not bitchfests.

Are there any remaining items to be discussed for this term in this committee?

You would think with the SoIA once again running for office, there would be no shortage of work for a committee devoted to overseeing his office and making sure he is doing his fing job. Especially after what happened the last time said official was a candidate running for office.

If from amongst the present issues arising over the past two months, all there is is busy work in your opinion, then doesn't it seem that this committee lacks a purpose for existing in your opinion?

The purpose of this committee is to review/create domestic legislation across a wide set of policy areas and to oversee the actions of the Administation regarding said policy areas, not the least of which is to make sure the SoIA does his job. If a seperate committee can't handle this, then perhaps it is time to merge it back into the GOR.

The only way I can see to get rid of the SoIA would be to have the GM simulate the position, not to mention shifting all the "game moderation" powers the SoIA has back to the GM as well.

It is sickening really that no one wants to actually play this damn game.

Here is something else to consider. Where are the newspapers and printed publciations?

When I came here we had three at least at all times and that was the case for a long time. Theys all dead now don't you know. The only media operations that are surviving is the polling, but is a gun without a gunman. The News papers aren't there to analyze them, to stir controversy and push the cycle. It seems we get these clique papers and the same people get interviewed over and over again, because of who they are associated with. I can only be remembering party to three interviews that actually got posted and two were just a scam to acheive some hidden objective. Then they die when they no longer serve a purpose.

Take Marokai for instance, he had the Socialist trash paper back in 2009 that helped to destroy MasterJedi's campaign for Presidency amongst other things and then made life exceedingly difficult for us again in October 2010. Instead of vanishing, he could do a great service by reviving that fiflth or creating another one. At least it had a real impact. Also, why don't some of these people who "no longer give a sh**t anymore", revive Atlasian journalism. They obviously wont care if someone gets pissed off.

Like the question I just asked in the AG's thread. That should be reporter from the Nyman Sun Times, asking that first.

Might as well, Nappy isn't too keen on using it, so we might as well just use as space to bitch about things we hate about the present situation.

Maybe, it might lead to something productive. It will certainly make me feel better compared with the silence.

I think the best bet for now is to find out where the legality stands before the Senate can act one way or the other. Once that is over, I made a recommendation in my last speech, but of course you have to read it to find it out. It isn't "That" long. Tongue

I tend to agree, when I said "legality stands" I didn't mean let the court handle it but exploring what is practical and the likelihood that it would be ruled unnconstitutional. I hope that clarifies what I said yesterday.

The lack of ability to read the latest correspondence on this matter is driving me nuts, I must say.

Maxy and Marokai, did you guys get a chance to read the PM I sent on Thursday? The one that I sent prematurely and then had to send a correction afterwards?
