Unfortunately the Daily Currant is satirical, like the Onion.

If she ever lose her seat, I'm quite sure she will leave Minnesota and get a job in media or leading some far-right organisation.

Democratic Nos were Koenen, Sparks and Stumpf. Petersen was the only Republican Yes.

That's rather disappointing. His district voted strongly for the amendment, but it's also the most Democratic of districts that strong for it. Democrats from far more Republican and equally socially conservative districts voted in favor, like the one just north in Owatonna. Plus he was a fairly vocal opponent of the amendment before it put on the ballot.

Still cause for celebration! My Facebook feed is quite jubilant now.

Speaking of Bachmann, apparently she is considering leaving Minnesota over gay marriage.

http://dailycurrant.com/2013/05/13/bachmann-threatens-to-leave-minnesota-over-marriage-equality/

If I were a Minnesotan, I don't know which I'd be happier about as a gay person, gay marriage or the prospect of Bachmann leaving Wink.
\

I think Bachmann is concerned, rightly, about her political future in Minnesota, and since she seems to have no other marketable skills that would make her serious money, and of course give her the celebrity that she craves, she is looking for better venues for her act. However, if she thinks Eugene is it, she's not only disingenuously cynical, while being cruel about it, she is also as dumb as sh*t.

No, I don't think she actually  believes much of what comes out of her mouth. She is a performance artist, trying to milk a niche market for her own personal gain.

Congrats to Minnesota. Illinois and Hawaii definitely seem like they should be lower hanging fruit.

... just to have an article with picture:

Minnesota governor signs same-sex marriage bill

ST. PAUL, Minn. Gov. Mark Dayton on Tuesday signed a bill making same-sex marriage legal in Minnesota, the 12th state to take the step, as thousands of onlookers cheered.

"What a day for Minnesota!" Dayton, a Democrat, declared moments before putting his signature on a bill. "And what a difference a year and an election can make in our state."

Rainbow and American flags flapped in a sweltering breeze during the ceremony, held on the Capitol's south steps. The crowd, estimated by the State Patrol at 6,000, spilled down the steps and across the lawn toward downtown St. Paul.

Dayton thanked legislators for "political courage" before signing the bill just a day after it passed the state Senate. It passed the House last week.

My roommate and I at the festivities in St. Paul last night, where we sang with the Twin Cities Gay Mens Chorus.  No, we are not planning to get married to each other.

The song is called "Marry Us".

Here's some YouTube of us performing the song last year:

I'm on the right (our left).

In the video, there's a good shot of me at approximately 2:05.

The Northeast is f[inks] awesome. And also, Bachmann should move to Mississippi, not Oregon. (Sorry, Harry.) And congratulations Minnesota. I'm still waiting for Vermont to be destroyed, it's been 4 years now!
