What do you think ?

The consensus is that same-day registration increases turnout in those states that have it.

Would be good I guess for the National Popular Vote margin for the Democratic candidate.

I voted yes.

I absolutely think so. To register to vote, at least in IL, you have to go out of your way, fill out a bunch of papers, show multiple IDs, and take the oath. I was willing to do so because I am obsessed with politics, but people who would like to vote but don't care THAT much will not go out of their way for that. If they find out they can show up and do it there, however, they will go vote. I think turnout goes up and I think it favors the Dems.

On the other hand, some states that have SDR like Wyoming have not really high turnout either, because they are not seen by the voters as competetive.

This might keep CA's turnout low despite having the SDR in place by 2016.

Independent redistricting commission, runoff system, and now this... California is becoming one of the best States for electoral rules.

The problem is that Californians lack that much reason to turn out in 2016.

I wouldn't do it, because SDR puts a big burden on those old poll workers, who actually should do something else on election day than register voters. If most people would do that, then there would probably be long lines and delays at the polls, especially if the 2016 election is the first one in which this new system is used ...
