Could Mitch run for the US senate if Vitter runs for governor? After all, we would have the sister and the brother! If he's like his sister, Louisiana would gradly benefit from his service!

Yeah, that would be pretty neat. Vitter doesn't necessarily have to relinquish his Senate seat to run for Governor though, unless he actually wins.

Maybe he supports the two terms limit?

Without a Cajun candidate, I could see Vitter pulling in those voters. Gerald Long has a nice base in northern LA, but its mostly rural, I don't why he would perform particuarly well in the bigger cities up north.

I think Mayor Landrieu would wait to see how the R field develops first. Interetingly, as this blog points out, in 2007, he got more votes than Jindal.

Is there a democrat running?

At a town hall Thursday, David Vitter said he would support a government shutdown rather than funding Obamacare and equated its supporters to freeloaders:

Yikes.

Edward's son is running, is there a chance?

Jindal is destroying his own state in order to make him a tea party favorite in 2016. Disgusting

Republicanization, and it will still be Obama. Dardenne is too moderate for losing against Landrieu, and Vitter, despite being extremely conservative and personnally a moron, but (except the prostitute), he has always avoided controversy (for instance he voted for the flood insurance). So Vitter is too skilled.

Honestly, Landrieu should seek the 2016 senate seat: if dardenn wins, this will be open. And he will have some advantages:
-Hillary Clintin might be the the nominee. Of course, I'm not saying she will win LA, but she will overperform Obama in the South, no one can deny that. So in a neutral year, I can see her losing by "only" 10 points.
-And his sister is senator, he might have use her seniority, and I guess te lobbyist prefer to have two senators in their side who will work together than two senators who literally hate each other.

Hillary doing well in Louisiana?

I doubt it and she does not have her husband's political charm to carry the Pelican State
She will overperform Obama.

Landrieu wouldn't probaby win, but at least, it would help the democrats to compete for the next elections (Clinton in 2016,...).

The South needs to be targeted by the democrats.

It looks like Bobby Jindal's bad approvals are even dragging along the Lieutenant Governor race - Nungesser only leads Holden by a measly one point.

Has Louisiana had a black person in a statewide office? I'm rooting hard for Kip Holden!
Well, is the LA democratic party seriously contesting the LG office?

I would love to see Edwards winning this, but I don't see that coming, sorry. Conway just got eviscerated and I think Vitter will end up winning just because Obama is a democrat, like Edwards.

It was already going to be really close when factoring in the terrible situation of polls over-estimating Democrat support as of late and the notorious instance of practically every Southern undecided voter breaking for the Republican at the end of the day, but I think this has now cost Edwards the election.

People really underestimate the amount to which bigoted white Southerners loved to be wooed with dog-whistling politics. This particular issue just so happens to combine them all (racism, xenophobia, religious bigotry, etc). Rubes in Louisiana are just orgasming everywhere right now, now that they've been given in their eyes a concrete reason to oppose Edwards.
