They should not support it for the primary, they should support it for the general.  It's just how things are.  That's part of the reason why the Republicans have lost all the popular votes save one (2004) since 1988.

Should they? Yes.  Will they?  Probably not until the next decade.

I think it will happen, if not 2016, then 2020 at the latest.  Maybe even the 2018 mid-terms.

I'd be impressed if they merely drop the constitutional amendment from their platform.

As I discussed in the other thread, I believe the only way us Americans can preserve the sanctity of marriage is to pass a Federal Marriage Amendment. This will stop activist judges from redefining the institution for all of America

If the Republican Party goes this route, they have surrendered the culture wars

I would rather them surrender the culture wars now than have them keep losing the culture wars for the next three cycles.

Indeed, the country can't afford for the Democrats to win every election for the next 20 years.  -- And I'm a Democrat.
