New Unique Research poll for "Heute" newspaper (sample = 800):

(click right for HUGE version)

There's still a battle for 1st place between ÖVP and SPÖ, but the FPÖ is gaining right now after slumping to 18% a few weeks ago due to the Mölzer-scandal.

Greens and NEOS are battling it out for 4th place, while the leftist Europa Anders is once again at 3%.

REKOS, BZÖ and EU-STOP are still without any chance to get a seat in the EP.

41% say they will "definitely vote" in the election. That is stable relative to previous polls.

So, tonight at 8:15pm on ORF1 (TV channel) the Eurovision Song Contest will be shown live - where a polarizing Austrian transvestite is singing for her entry into the Finals on Saturday.

On ORF2, a EP-debate in Berlin between Schulz and Juncker will be shown live - hosted jointly by the German ZDF TV and the Austrian ORF TV.

...

I wonder which "show" gets more viewers ... Tongue

Song Contest beats EP-debate by more than 2-1 !

* 800.000 Austrians watched the Song Contest yesterday
* 330.000 Austrians watched the EP debate between Schulz and Juncker

For the Danish posters here:

http://news.orf.at/wahl14//video/7889460.html

"Election Drive" with Morten Messerschmidt (Danish People's Party) and Renata Alt (Slovak Liberal).

"Election Drive" is a show from the Austrian ORF, which features a journalist driving around Europe with top politicians and interviews them while driving.

One of the first interesting poster campaigns in Denmark today from the Liberals

"Is a border barrier the most effective way to stop foreign criminals?

The Liberals want a strengthened duty control, repatriation of foreign criminals and continued membership of EUROPOL.

Vote for the Liberals on 25 May - because complaints are not enough"

The ad is obviously targeted at DF. A bit surprising that they actually directly counter DF's argument instead of just focusing on how tough they themselves are on crime.
The left wing parties might argue that it sounds a bit hollow as the Liberals accepted DF's demand of border controls in exchange for economic reforms at the end of their latest period in government.

"enkelfit" is a fabricated word from NEOS I guess (but others might have used it before too).

But yeah, I have never heard the word before either ...

And what's a "Bergrat" ?

A title for a high-level mining Beamter, that is still used in Austria. I once learnt that in an article about the Austrian addiction to titles. There are even Bergräte h.c. ;-)

Ah, ok ... Tongue

Since mining these days has almost died out here (only in Styria) - it's easy why I didn't know that term.

Maybe this term is from the 1500s to 1800s, when mining was more common here.

The vote counts from all countries will be announced after 11pm on May 25, even for countries that are voting days earlier. Only exit polls can be released before 11pm on May 25:

I'd fully expect the UK, rather than the Netherlands, to publish their results in advance this time around, just to... troll the Commission, you know.

The commission isn't the one to blame here: The Netherlands, UK etc. could just hold the election on Sunday, just like the normal countries ... Wink

The idea that anyone in Latvia or wherever is going to change their vote because of how people in the Netherlands voted is delusional.

Juncker is beyond boring...more of the same old austerity.

Anyway,I wonder why in the EU nobody from the PES exploits the fact that Berlusconi's eurodeputies will be vital for any EPP majority...

I may change my vote depending on how many seats the PES gets in the UK and other countries. But exit polls will still help me with my decision.

In Finland the connection to Fidesz and Berlusconi are asked every time.

Better than nothing.
(I had forgotten about Hungary, thought both super-right parties were out of EPP...)

Well, maybe not in Europe because the parties are different in each country and people don't give much thought about what's happening in other countries.

But remember what happened in 2008, when Obama was announced President on the networks and many California voters went to the polls after that to "support" their new President, pushing the Obama-share above 60% ?

Now imagine if the race is close somewhere and people are voting after they heard someone winning "projected by the news" and then things turn out differently ... Total chaos.

Even if there's just a small number of people that could change their opinion based on the UK result announced earlier, I think it's still better that all results are announced at the same time.

Meanwhile, in Greece, here's the range of results from all polls released in the past two weeks:

Syriza: 25.5 to 29.6
ND: 23.5 to 28.4
XA: 6.0 to 11.5
To Potami: 8.0 to 10.9
PASOK: 5.5 to 8.0
KKE: 4.7 to 7.5
ANEL: 3.4 to 5.2
DIMAR: 1.8 to 3.5
others: 5.9 to 10.7

Basically, ND and Syriza fighting for first, Golden Dawn and Potomi fighting for third, PASOK and the KKE fighting for fifth.

The ridicolous thing was allowing differentiated voting in the first place...

Perhaps but in the context of the election(s) we are referring to in this thread this is a fallacy as it based on the notion that someone somewhere actually cares.
