They seriously need to find someone good, or at least not a racist jackass and have a primary, if they can.

This party just can't help themselves can they?

Do they ever plan on winning another national election?

Apparently not. The party establishment just doesn't get it. Lukewarm apologies will never make up for this kind of behavior. If they do want to win, the Republicans' only choice is to make an example of people like Congressman Young - boot him from the party, cut his funding, take his plum committee positions. But the Republicans are unwilling to face the potential short-term backlash for that. I guess they're happy holding onto the House via a mix of gerrymandering and red states while they slowly lose the Senate and the fail to gain the Presidency. Maybe they're just going to wait 20 years for all the old bigots to die off?

So close in 2008, oh so close in 2008 and Parnell would be Alaska's congressman rather than its Governor. If someone had run in 2010, the same voters that booted Murko in the primary, would have likely been open to doing the same down ballot.

Perhaps this will finally effect his removal.

Don Young is scum. He's gotten so close to being eliminated so many times, why doesn't Alaska just commit to getting rid of this guy?
Because to most Alaskans, voting Democrat is worse then voting for the devil.
Actually it is because Don Young, having lived in the Bush, being married to an Athapascan woman and not forgetting those who actually need it - the Natives of the Bush - in his pork procurement, will always vastly outrun other contested statewide Republicans in the Bush.

Don Young IS the face of Alaska Republicanism's outreach to the minority that actually matters in Alaska.
