Thanks for the link! Sorry I haven't been around here lately...too many other things going on for me the past year or two.

I've been working on this for the last 4-5 months and just got it up today. The site isn't nearly done...I still want to add 1997 poll maps, by-elections and get to work on the provincial maps (starting with BC...want to get something up by the election.)

Hope you all enjoy!

If I can find older poll maps, I'll try and do something. Definitely riding boundaries though, even if I have to make them myself.

I'll also be posting updates on twitter (@electionatlasCA) and my blog.

Here's my first blog post. Basically hypothesizing that the main reason Peter Penashue won Labrador was because he increased turnout in his hometown.

Just a couple updates:

* As soon as the poll-by-poll results are released for both the BC provincial and Labrador by-elections, they'll be added to the site ASAP. It takes a few days for me to process and map everything, but I'll do it as fast as I can.
* I've started working on the Ontario section in case Wynne and Horwath have a falling out and they go to the polls. Look for it in about a month's time.

I've just added poll-by-poll maps from 1997. Enjoy!

Next up is BC 2013, now that their poll-by-poll results are out ( http://www3.elections.bc.ca/index.php/resource-centre/reports/ ). Soon as that's done, I'm going to finish Ontario.

The UNB library here has them all back to 1900 or so, but again, no maps. If someone came across some maps, I'd try and do *something*. The plan is to at least put riding maps together from the descriptions on that Library of Parliament website, but that's a long term project.

Pretty much, urban Anglophone and Francophone is Tory under 50%, while rural Anglophone is 50%+ Tory.  I've often wondered though why Anglophones in New Brunswick are so much more conservative than in other Atlantic Provinces.

Different cultures. The rest of the Maritimes is mostly Scottish/Irish and Catholic, southern NB is WASPy, more along the lines of southern Ontario. I've always thought Anglo NB has more in common with northern Maine than the rest of the Maritimes.

Ontario is now up!

http://www.election-atlas.ca/ont/

Right now there are poll maps going back to 2003.

Next up for me is Nova Scotia, and their damned PDF files that are completely incapable of being pasted into Excel in any sort of readable manner.

A couple minor updates: all the by-elections from the last session of the Ontario legislature are now up. To wit:

Niagara Falls: http://www.election-atlas.ca/ont/107/54.php?e=2013
Thornhill: http://www.election-atlas.ca/ont/107/89.php?e=2013

Plus, the main federal riding page now has maps going back to 1979. Because I'm just that bored.

Yup, by hand. Used the riding descriptions from the Library of Parliament site, which came in really handy every time they mentioned property lot numbers or municipalities that haven't existed in 30 years. There's a reason it took me 8 months.

I'd say it's still pretty accurate. The only places where I truly had to guess were pretty much uninhabited. I've found a ton of sources to help me with a lot of the older info.

To be fair, I could do 90% of the work without the shapefiles. Once they were up (and I'm insane enough that I checked the site daily), I only needed a couple hours to finish the job.

And here's New Brunswick:

Only have one election's worth of poll maps now, but that's going to change in a couple months...

May's federal by-elections:

Trinity-Spadina: http://www.election-atlas.ca/fed/308/35095.php?e=2014
Scarborough-Agincourt: http://www.election-atlas.ca/fed/308/35080.php?e=2014
Fort McMurray: http://www.election-atlas.ca/fed/308/48001.php?e=2014
Macleod: http://www.election-atlas.ca/fed/308/48020.php?e=2014

(Seriously Elections Canada, it shouldn't take 4 1/2 months to release results...)

Next province will probably be Newfoundland. Especially if I can try and coax polling division shapefiles out of them.

Yes, Fort McMurray's screwed up. Obviously based on a bad street map.

As for Newfoundland....came across this. One guy only got the shapefiles after a year and a half of e-mails and an access to info request. Yikes.

I'm giving election-atlas.ca a total remodel. Hope it looks a lot more professional and easier to use, and it should solve a lot of the problems people had with the old version of the site.

http://www.election-atlas.ca/fed/

I'm now using dots to represent poll results, and you can view poll maps for multiple ridings at once.

The federal section is done now, I'll be converting the provinces over the spring and summer.

Enjoy!

If you *really* want the coloured blocks, the old site's still up:
