“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”

Hahahaha! What a stupid woman!

Okay, even from the perspective of someone who endorses the (slightly modified) replication of Finland's gun laws, that's just flat-out stupid.

Ignorance is not stupidity, fellows.  Obviously she's still more intelligence than anyone on the other side of the issue, whatever her ignorance of the mechanics of the infernal device.

Watch this get 1/2 as many replies as a GOP rape thread.

That is a terrible comparison. Even if horrific comments about rape have become disturbingly common in the GOP, that does not at all lesson their severity. It's such a false equivalence, it's completely absurd.

This is a sad commentary on how prevalent today's disposable culture is in that people make as their first assumption that items are disposable.  Still, the comment was only 99% ignorant, not 100%. The clips will wear out and break, tho not at a rate to make any significant change in the number of clips available any time soon.

I was under the impression that you wanted to execute the 1% rich. You propose doing that with sticks and stones?

Probably badly phrased, but I guess she wanted to say that if you ban high-capacity ammunition magazines now, then in the future there will be less around: If no new high-capacity ammunition magazines can be sold and bought anymore, the stock of existing ones will decrease over time because of old ones that are given back to the authorities, malfunctioning ones, etc. - therefore probably reducing events where such super-deadly weapons can be used.

She doubled down on the stupidity, while also authoring a gun control bill.

Her spokesperson clarified what she wanted to say.

"The congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to 'magazines' when she should have referred to 'clips,' which cannot be reused because they don't have a feeding mechanism," Johnson said.

Actually, clips in most guns can be reused as well.

Not even on the top ten of the fuss charts. And if you are going to call somebody stupid and make fun of them, at least get their name right, her name is Diana, not Diane.
