If that way that is said in the ACU thread is correct then I would get a 76.

A cursory analysis of the 2004 US senate roll call votes, as listed on their website, put me in agreement with the ACU in 13 of 25 votes, opposed in 10 of 25 votes, and undecided in two.  So, depending on how you count it, I'm either at 52% or 56.5%

(I'm not sure how the undecided, or voting "present" counts in these things.)

I think I'll go with 56.5% till I learn otherwise.

You would have an ACU score of 60 Angus.

The way you do it is you go to their site and look at the bills. You take the number of times you disagreed with the ACU on the bills and times that by 4 then do 100 minus that number.

well, persuant to the other thread coupling the ACU and ACLU scores, I'm with the ACLU in 6 of 9 senate votes, opposed in 2 of 9 and undecided in one case.  So, using the ACU algorithm for this, and scaling to 9 votes total, I make it (100 - 100*(2/11)) = 82%

So, my ACU/ACLU scores are  60%/82%

A uniter!  Not a divider!   Yay!!!

My ACU rating would be a 12 for 2004.  I favor the ACU position on bills 5,7, and 9.

look at the ACU ratings thread in Congressional, it has the link and teh bills, just calculate how you wouold've voted on them.

From what it looks like, I'd have an 8 if I were a Senator, and a 0 if I were in the House, but I didn't look the House too closely.

They seem to judge heavily on social issues, so I'd probably get a very low score

Here you go:

Senate: http://acuratings.com/acu.cgi?ACT=1&USER_ID=1145&YEAR=2004

House: http://acuratings.com/acu.cgi?ACT=1&USER_ID=754&YEAR=2004

Just look through thier bills, decide how you would've voted on that, how many times your vote agrees with their stance, take the percentage of that out of 24 in the Senate and 25 in the House, and round.

alright, I closely looked at the House votes and would've voted their way on these bills:

#2:
# Food Industry Lawsuits. HR 339 (Roll Call 54)
2004-03-10
This bill prohibited lawsuits in federal or state courts against restaurants, food manufacturers and distributors based on claims that the food contributed to the plaintiff's obesity or weight gain.
ACU supported this bill.

This bill was: passed
The vote was: 276-139

This Representative voted: In Opposition of ACU

# 5:
# 'Marriage Penalty' Relief. HR 4181 (Roll Call 138)
2004-04-28
This bill permanently eliminated provisions in the tax code penalizing two-income couples who marry.
ACU supported this bill.

This bill was: passed
The vote was: 323-95

This Representative voted: In Opposition of ACU

# 11:
# Gasoline Price Reduction -- Passage HR 4545 (Roll Call 247)
2004-06-16
The House passed a bill allowing limited waivers from state fuel additive requirements during periods of fuel shortages to increase supplies and lower prices.
ACU supported this bill.

This bill was: defeated
The vote was: 236-194

This Representative voted: In Opposition of ACU

So I would've got a 12. Seems a bit too high.

Also, I would've supported this bill in theory, but I don't trust the Republicans in Congress with this type of requirement:

# Budget Enforcement. HR 4663 (Roll Call 318)
2004-06-25
The House defeated a bill that set caps on discretionary spending and required mandatory spending increases to be offset with spending cuts.
ACU supported this bill.

This bill was: defeated
The vote was: 146-268

This Representative voted: In Opposition of ACU

In the Senate I favor their position on bills 2 and 13

House.  ACLU score would be 100!  Interesting I have a 12 ACU and a 100 ACLU rating.

#7 in the House sounds good, but I suspect there was some not so great things about it that they aren't mentioning.

That's roughly what I get John.  I'd be curious about how many of the nine listed US senate votes where you agree with the ACLU.

The reason I'm asking is because I tend to be in fairly close agreement with you on economic and social issues, but I think we're pretty far apart on foreign policy.  (that alone probably explains the difference between 56 and 60 on the ACU score, but that difference may manifest itself in a slightly greater way on the ACLU scorecard).

Take a look at these:

I agree with the ACLU only on oposing the new FCC rules.  everything else, I disagreed.
