You've just became the Democratic Party presumptive nominee in 2000. Who is your first choice for Vice President?

Not Lieberman. He's a DINO and I don't mean a dinosaur.

How about I pick Bill Bradley? He was the only one who actually had the nerve to challenge me in the primaries so I'll aplaud him from that. Plus, my ticket will have both north and south on it. Howard Dean also sounds like a good choice to balance out my ticket.

I agree.  New Hampshire was a key state, and she would have energized the base way more than Lieberman.

Remember you're suppoused to pick without a hindsight. NH was a swing state but nobody thought it can decide an election.

Though I understand "women voters" argument.

Jeanne Shaheen, but I would also consider Bill Richardson. Though the last choice might be too much Washington...

Wellstone would have been a great choice, but there's no chance in hell Gore would have picked him. 2000 was basically the apex of Democratic moderate heroism, where the party's establishment was ashamed of even looking slightly left-of-center.

Jim Sasser. With him, he would have been able to carry the state of Tennessee since Sasser was a true blood Tennesseean.

The President and VP can't be from the same state, I believe. Either that or, if they are, they can't get that state's EVs, so Sasser would be useless anyway.

Hmm, well in that case David Pryor or Blanche Lincoln.

Yes, Gore and Lieberman don't exactly excite the women, and I don't think there's any better woman available. Feinstein maybe, but she's not that attractive and from a safe state. Mikulski isn't good enough with people, Boxer's too easily caricatured, Lincoln and Landrieu are too moderate. Patty Murray could also be an OK choice, though.
