Senator, you have 24 hours to advocate for this bill.

What about bills that we like just passed from the Senate, that dont' get on the wiki. Like lets say the GEt Act doesn't make it in by the time this is passed. The exemption in clause two wouldn't cover it, as I read it.

The amendment is necessary, and I thank Nix for amending his bill.

I'll have to think on this one, to be honest. People put hard work into their bills, and I'd hate to wipe it all away just because the legislation didn't make it onto the wiki. What if there are really important things that aren't there?

Are you going to go and find them? Because honestly, I will not be bothered to.

I wouldn't mind moving the date back to 2012 or 2011, but otherwise this bill makes good sense.

I'm not going to go back and look for every bill that's ever been passed, but I admit that I do sometimes go back through the forum to look for relevant stuff. Sure. I look for the main "51st Senate" thread (or whatever), and go from there. Generally, I've operated under the belief that the wiki just isn't reliable. Tongue

I get that this bill is practical though. I just have to think about it.

Napoleon, if you introduce an amendment to that effect I will deem it friendly.

Hagrid, any legislation that we repeal by passing this bill has already faded into the ether. It may be important, but we have no reliable way of knowing if it even exists.

When I was updating the budget figures as GM I went and found the Senate noticeboards for the recent months that were empty on the wiki to find passed legislation.  So these things are possible if there's a willingness to do it.

Nay

I don't agree with a blanket repeal of all laws we don't have recorded. It is possible that someone could find the Senate debate of some law and later put it on the wiki, but under this law it would be repealed. Practically speaking, we have to assume that only whatever is in the wiki is the law, and operate under those assumptions. But if someone can find old bills and put them on wiki, good for them and it should become the law. This is completely unnecessary and wrong.

The amendment is good, and I just put in the Representation one yesterday a few hours after it was signed; what I have to do today is get Amendment XVII in - that's all. I can even help keep things up-to-date even after I am A.G.

As to the point at hand, I take it this pertains to statutes only? Look, if something slipped through the cracks back in '07, it's lost. If it's ever found, we could memorialize it in the repealed legislation section.

Now I don't know about scrapping court cases or resolutions - I hope we're not doing that. Look, it will just take a little time to get through that part of the backlog, but if we're talking about ancient statutes, I see no problem. But it looks well on its way regardless.
