The week of October 10-16 begins now.

The New York Times

Polling Update

IOWA

Huckabee: 16%
Romney: 15%
Daniels: 12%
Cain: 12%
Paul: 8%
Thune: 8%
Hutchison: 7%
Bush: 6%
Bachmann: 6%
Cheney: 4%
Corker: 3%
Pataki: 2%
Huntsman: 1%
Someone Else/Not Sure: 3%

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Romney: 21%
Paul: 11%
Daniels: 11%
Cain: 10%
Huntsman: 8%
Pataki: 7%
Bush: 7%
Hutchison: 6%
Huckabee: 5%
Thune: 4%
Cheney: 3%
Corker: 3%
Bachmann: 2%
Someone Else/Not Sure: 3%

Democrats Over, Republicans Just Getting Started

Although Sen. Bernie Sanders has announced his withdrawal from the 2012 primary race, the Republican race is still heating up. A strong effort by Gov. Romney has led to his campaign leaping in the polls, while other contenders, such as Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. Mitch Daniels, and pizzaman Herman Cain all strongly competing. Rep. Ron Paul has a dedicated base of support, and veteran Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison appears to be doing well too. Sen. Bob Corker, a lesser-known name, is running a fairly competent campaign, and Govs. Pataki and Huntsman are focusing on New Hampshire - it remains to be seen if this will pay off. Sen. John Thune had a rather negative fundraising report, however, and Rep. Michele Bachmann claimed that the President was 'anti-American'. Vice President Dick Cheney is special.

Endorsement Watch

For Romney: Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV), Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)
For Paul: Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Rep. Barry Goldwater, Jr. (R-CA), Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC), Ms. Kelly Clarkson, Mr. Snoop Dogg, Mr. Joe Perry, Ms. Aimee Allen.
For Obama: Gov. Howard Dean (D-VT)
For Daniels: Gov. John H. Sununu (R-NH), Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (R-AL).
For Huckabee: Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), the New Hampshire Union Leader.
For Cain: Mr. Steve Forbes
For Corker: Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Gov. Bill Haslam (R-TN), Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN).

Analysis: Romney picked up some big names this week, while Paul got a lot of endorsements, but most being only representatives. Obama secured Gov. Howard Dean against a potential primary challenge, while Daniels picked up a big NH and a big national name. Huckabee secured a newspaper endorsement and a South Carolina one, while Cain picked up another entrepreneur. Corker received a few, but all are Tennesseeans.

Debate Questions
Tonight's debate question (for all candidates) is: How would your administration address China?

This turn will be open 48 hours. Please PM me for endorsements.

In Cheyenne, WY:
"The time for our nation is now. Today we must look for innovative solutions to the tough issues dividing our society. Together we'll rise, together we'll. together we'll fight. Our nation has so much potential, as has been seen many, many times through our 200 year history. America is the place to be and we can get better and better, but we need the right leader if we wish to do so, and that's why I'm running. Not just for a few swing states but for every state from Alabama to Wyoming. Debate Answer:

Hutchinson at the debate
China has some serious human rights violations but, as we saw with Clinton and Bush Sr., what you say on the campaign trail about them isn't necessarily how you act towards them. I'm no dreamer when it comes to China and I realize its time we face the facts on this issue. We need balance with them. America and China seriously need to have a conversation on the issues facing both of our nations as well as those between our nations. We ought to make it clear that there are many things we wont tolerate, among them currency manipulation and trade disputes which happen all to often. Then we must work out a solution. I think its clear if we just sat down and work out our differences a productive relationship could emerge. We must take a hard line against China, but not too hard as it will ruin both ours and their economies.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson Ad in Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire-

"In a time of increased rhetoric and flip flopping, shes stood by her views and has worked over the past decade for our wonderful nation through both good times and bad. Due to this she is an experiences woman and someone who we need in the White House. Thats why you should vote for Kay Bailey Hutchinson, a real American Patriot.

"I'm Kay Bailey Hutchinson and I approve this message."

Ron Paul debate answer:
When it comes to China, we should open up the markets and let the markets decide what goes in and out of China. However, we should no longer give tax breaks to companies that send jobs overseas. We should also work here at home to bring our economy back so that we no longer have to be in debt to China. The Chinese currently holds much of our debt, and treasury notes. If they ever call on us to pay back those debts, we will be in big trouble if the economy keeps going the way it is.

Gov. Nikki Haley endorses Huckabee for President. "Governor Huckabee offers a vision of a future that is hopeful, one that is prosperous and one that is rooted in the very principles on which this country was founded."

Gov. Huckabee speaking on his support for the Flat Tax in Concord, NH

Latest Huckabee Ad airing in IA, NH, SC (Fairer Tax Code)
"Want to see the income tax disappear? Want to make paying taxes simpler? I'm advocating the flat tax, a solution to the mess that is our US tax code. A person shouldn't need an accountant to do their taxes and accountant shouldn't need an accountant to their own taxes. It's time to throwout the current code and replace it with a flat tax. It's fairer, it's simple and will make all our eyes a lot easier."

I'm Mike Huckabee and I approve this message.

Gov. Huckabee Debate Response:
"This administration has been flatfooted when it comes to dealing with China. However, I do not activate we just putting fingers and raising our voices. What needs to happening is a better approach to our dealings with China. We need to outline our terms and articulate a vision. Up until now China makes all the rules and walks all over us. We need a little backbone when it comes to dealing with China, but not only China, but around the world. America has taken a backseat in the leadership role over the last four years, and for us to maintain our superpower status and for the stability of freedom around the world America must lead, and to use a phrase, from the front, not behind."

Mitch Daniels's Schedule: From October 10 to October 16, 2011:

Build Up:

1.-Schedule:

October 10: Barnstorm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Dubuque, Iowa.
October 11: Barnstorm in Davenport, Ames and Ankeny, Iowa.
October 12: Barnstorm in Des Moines, Sioux City and Waterloo, Iowa.
October 13: Bus Tour in New Hampshire with Gov. John Sununu.
October 14: Bus Tour in New Hampshire with Gov. John Sununu.
October 15: Barnstorm and Rally in Concord and Manchester, New Hampshire.
October 16: Strategy Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, then rest.

2.- Announcements, Messages and Other Things:

Speech in Manchester, New Hampshire:

"I would like to thank Secretary Rice and Governor Sununu for endorsing our campaign! We grow stronger everyday, and while my main focus is getting to know better and better the voters of Iowa and New Hampshire, I will be taking a major tour across many early states next month. I will have the privilege of travelling with the offices who join our campaign, so we'll see how it goes in November!"

Debate Response:

"I think we can all agree that China is a country that needs to improve it's domestic policy, and that they need political reform. Still, I don't think it's wise to go on the negative towards China. I went to Zhejiang Province a couple of months ago with the objective of improving trade relationships between the state of Indiana and China. It was then when I finally convinced myself that in today's economy, a good test for America is whether it can participate in trade and in the two-way exchange with China, now, it doesn't fall in your lap -- you've got to earn it, you've got to build an environment that invites it and looks more attractive than all the other environments that somebody can go to."

Mitch Daniels Ad#1: Leadership and Record: For Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina:

Images of several American cities pass through:

Voice Over: When was the last time you felt that our country was going in the right direction? In troubled times like this we need a President who can lead, and that has the necessary experience to serve as a positive leader. Mitch Daniels has been a Political Advisor, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, CEO and Governor of Indiana in a long career that spans more than 35 years. He has the experience, the skills and the enthusiasm, and his bold style is exactly what is needed to occupy the White House.

Mitch Daniels: In my career, I have tried my best to be a leader with strong values, a leader who is able to reach success. I believe I can help America to restore it's prosperity, and that's why I approved this message.

Ann Romney speaking at a Town Hall Meeting in Iowa City, Iowa

You may not agree with every one of Mitt's positions on the issues or his politics. We come from a state where only 13% of voters are Republican, so we're quite used to it!  But here is what I can promise each and every Iowan: No one will work harder, care more, and be ready to move mountains in order to get this country back on the right track.

This election is so important - it is about our country. It is about our future...and the future generations of America. You can trust Mitt, just give him a chance. Give America a chance. Thank you Iowa, and God bless you all!

October 13th:
Opening of new campaign office - Iowa City, Iowa
Meet and Greet - Ceder Rapids, Iowa
Meet and Greet - Marion, Iowa
Town Hall Meeting - Marion, Iowa
Appearance on Hannity

Mitt Romney greeting supporters outside of new office in Iowa City, Iowa

It is so great to be back in the Hawkeye State again!

I tell you, four years ago, Ann and I made so many lasting friendships here in the Hawkeye state, friendships that will last a lifetime. We met so many good people - it was overall a great learning experience for us.

Now, we're fortunate to be back here again, campaigning with a similar message. However, my friends, things have changed since when we opened up an office here four years ago - In 2008, we voted in a US Senator with little experience into the White House, hoping his inspiring speeches and message of hope could bring America to a full recovery.

Well, the change we were promised isn't quite the change we got. Unemployment remains higher than it was before Obama took office, and we have a national debt that continues to pile an even greater burden on the backs of future generations. Government continues to play a bigger role in our life, specifically with the passage of Obamacare. Iowans know this, as do so many other Americans I have come in contact with - Obamacare is not the solution our needs. As President, I will repeal and replace Obamacare with a system that gives more options to American families while cutting the rising premiums.

I look forward to presenting my case to Hawkeye voters in the coming months - polling has us in a tie for first place, and with your help, I am absolutely confident that we will be victorious here, both in January and next November! Thank you, and God Bless!

October 14th:
Reading to Students at Hiawatha Elementary School - Hiawatha, Iowa
Meet and Greet - Ceder Point, Iowa
Meet and Greet - Evansdale, Iowa
Campaign Rally - Waterloo, Iowa
Flies to New Hampshire

October 15th:
Campaign Rally with US Senator Kelly Ayotte - Nashua, New Hampshire
Meet and Greet - Peterborough, New Hampshire
Meet and Greet - Swanzey, New Hampshire
Policy Speech on Health Care - Keene, New Hampshire

Mitt Romney, receiving the endorsement of US Senator Kelly Ayotte

There's one person in this field who is prepared to lead the United States of America, and that is Mitt Romney. And most importantly, there is one person who I know will ensure that Barack Obama is a one-term president, and that is Mitt Romney!

My fellow Granite Stators, we have the privilege and honor of being the first state to vote in the primary. Our decision plays a major role in determining who the next President of the United States is. The most recent polling shows that Mitt is up by a good amount here, but that should not give us reason to rest. We must keep fighting the good fight - tell your family and friends about Governor Romney, and do whatever you can, whether with your time or your wallet, to ensure Mitt Romney wins New Hampshire, along with the White House!

October 16th:
Press Conference with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie - Concord, New Hampshire
Campaign Rally - Concord New Hampshire
Private Fundraiser - Concord, New Hampshire

Governor Chris Christie announcing his endorsement of Mitt Romney

Earlier this month, I announced my decision NOT to seek the Republican nomination. I decided not to run because I know there is another candidate in this race who would make a fantastic President. I want to support Governor Romney because I believe he's the best person to be able to articulate Republican values and defeat Barack Obama in November 2012.

Mitt Romney has a proven, conservative record as the Governor of Massachusetts - when he came into office, their state suffered a budget shortfall. Mitt put his foot down, and while cutting taxes, brought Massachusetts to a balanced budget. That's the kind of leader we need in our nominee, and that's exactly the type of leader we need to return America to dominance.

I cannot wait to get out onto the campaign trail and encourage my fellow Republicans to vote for the man with the plan, the man that can and will take down Barack Obama next November. Thank you, and God Bless.

Debate Question:
"“There’s no question that China manipulates its currency, but I don’t believe that calling China currency manipulators bring any production to the U.S. or create one job here in America. If we want to do something productive regarding China, we should focus on pushing the Chinese to end preferential procurement policies, addressing China’s disregard for intellectual property rights, encouraging the Chinese to make investments in manufacturing plants in the U.S., and ensuring that America maintains access to the 1.3 billion Chinese consumers. These are the right policy responses toward Beijing. "

Entrepreneur Steve Forbes Endorses Herman Cain

"I have read all of these economic plans by all of these candidates, and only one of them comes up to snuff. Facts are facts, we are headed for a total economic apocalypse, and only one man knows how to change the tax code so that job creators aren't running out of this nation. That man is Herman Cain, a true manager, a true boss, and a true leader."

Mitt Romney for President...Believe in America

Debate Response:

Governor Mitt Romney weighs in on China

I believe that it is important that both nations succeed so that we can thrive on each other's success. However, it is essential that we confront China on stealing intellectual property, as well as being a currency manipulator. They must be taught that if they cheat, if they don't abide by the rules, there will be a price to pay. President Obama has failed to make sure the playing field is level with China, and it's something I will tackle as soon as I take the Oval Office.

I have already had the privilege of meeting with China's leadership, and look forward to doing so again, if I'm lucky enough to become your next President. Making them a partner for stability in the world will be a high priority of mine. China's economic future is greatly linked to ours. It is essential that we recognize that they are going to be an economic powerhouse along with us, and knowing that, we must be understanding of each other and open in communication.

Mitt Romney for President: Believe in America

Television Ad: Conservative Businessman
Governor Mitt Romney has released the following 30-second television advertisement. It will be airing in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada.

Romney: I've spent my life in the private sector. I've competed with companies around the world, and in doing this, have learned something about how economies grow, why jobs come and go. We're not going to balance the budget simply by pretending that all we have to do is take out the waste. We're going to have to cut spending and reduce the size of government. I'm in favor of doing that, as well as having a balanced budget amendment. The right answer for America is to stop the growth of government and start the growth of the public sector. I'm Mitt Romney, and I approve of this message.

Mitt Romney for President: Believe in America

Dean Heller: We need Mitt Romney!
Nevada Senator Dean Heller endorses Governor Romney at a rally in Carson City, Nevada.

Today, I am excited and honored to announce my endorsement in the Presidential race. We have so many qualified candidates running this year, and I'm certain that any one of them would be better that President Obama. However, one candidate stands out. One candidate has a solid, conservative record in the private and public sector. One candidate I am sure can go toe-to-toe with President Obama in the General Election and give us victory.

I am proud to endorse the one candidate who I know will get America back on the right track, and that man is Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney's record as Governor of Massachusetts shows that he can lead by working with both sides, something President Obama clearly is not capable of doing. Not only that, but Romney's successes at Bain Capital and at leading the Salt Lake City Olympics show that he actually has real-life experience with the economy, something few others have, especially our President.

That being said, though, I don't support Mitt Romney because of what he's done. I support him because of what he can do as our next President. We need our nominee, our next President, to be someone of high integrity. Someone who can end this era of bitter partisanship in Washington D.C. and work for The People. We need someone who understands the principles of limited government and will fight to reduce wasteful spending. We need a President who values the human life, and will only nominate pro-life individuals to the Supreme Court. That man is Mitt Romney, and I am ecstatic to be campaigning for him today and in the months to come. Thank you, and God Bless!

John Thune, America's best choice for President

Debate Answer
Yes, we all know that China manipulates its currency, and we should call them on it.  If we were doing the same, they would call us on that.  They should play on the same ground as we are, and my white house will give any business who moves there factory or company from china to the us, we will give you many tax incentives.

Schedule

Barnstorm Iowa, and at end of the week, fly to South Carolina.

Debate Answer
I represented the United States as Ambassador to China, and I make no mistake when I say that we are only going to face increasing competition from China as the 21st century moves on. We must engage China from a position of strength; we cannot let down our allies in Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. At the same time, we must also call China out and insist that the economic playing field must be leveled. China cannot continue to manipulate its currency to undermine the American and global economy, and we cannot allow China to engage in the hijacking of American intellectual property, as Governor Romney has pointed out. Finally, China must improve human rights.

Governor Romney has also spoken about tariffs in the past. This idea is grossly irresponsible-a trade war between the United States and China will greatly complicate what will become the most important bilateral relationship of the 21st century. We cannot deal with China with these types of actions, no matter how crowd pleasing they may sound, and we have to keep a realistic, rational, and clear vision for our relationship with China as we move forward into the uncharted waters of the 21st century.

Debate Answer:

"Well, I think the Chinese government can serve as a model for the US. Look at how many social programs they've cut. They don't have a socialist Obama welfare state, they don't have food stamps, they don't have TANF or anything. China is a good model of a society without a safety net. However, their government is being too aggressive in its policy towards other nations. They are manipulating their currency, blinding US satellites with their lasers, and hacking into the computers of those who fight for freedom around the globe and in China, and so we should use all means necessary to stop them from doing so."

Huntsman Television Ad: Independence
Huntsman: I am an American. I am a former Governor. I am a former diplomat. I am a husband, and most importantly, I am a father. I know I have to make unpopular decisions, and take unpopular positions. Whether they are in my family, or in my own party, I know I have an obligation to do what is right. So please, stand with me. Stand for independence, so we can get America back on track!

Voiceover: Vote for a voice of Common Sense, not the echoes of talk radio. Vote Jon Huntsman!

Huntsman: I am Jon Huntsman and I approve this message.

(Ad airing in Florida, Maine, Nevada, and New Hampshire).

Mitt Romney for President: Believe in America

Jeff Sessions: Mitt Romney is a Proven Conservative
Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, announcing his endorsement of Mitt Romney via webcam

It is my privilege to be coming to y'all from here in Alabama for a very important announcement.

I've been following the Presidential race closely - We Republicans have a line-up of candidates second to none, and I know every one of them would do a heckuva lot better than the guy we have in there now. We have folks running from various backgrounds and from all corners of our nation, including a couple right in the heart of the South.

My endorsement, though, isn't one of those Southerners, actually. While they may be qualified, I believe there is one man who is right for the job, a man I know I can trust to be a great President. Here in Alabama, we believe strongly in conservative principles. We believe in small, limited government, with lower taxes and less regulation. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as one man and woman, and we strongly believe in the life of the unborn. We need a candidate, a President, who embodies those same principles and can defeat President Obama with them next November.

One man fits the bill - one man will lead our party to victory next November. I'm proud to endorse Governor Mitt Romney to be our Republican nominee and the next President of the United States. Mitt Romney is a proven conservative and a proven winner, and I look forward to doing my part to help get him all the way to the White House! Thank you, and God Bless ya!
