Governor Huntsman response:
"As President, I will pursue a strong and stable dollar, and will appoint Federal Reserve Board Governors and a Chairman who believe in sound money. The United States cannot devalue our way to prosperity and efforts to do so risk another round of devaluations, which will ultimately harm American exporters and risk the dollar’s privileged position as the primary global reserve currency."

Debate Answer
I represented the United States as Ambassador to China, and I make no mistake when I say that we are only going to face increasing competition from China as the 21st century moves on. We must engage China from a position of strength; we cannot let down our allies in Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. At the same time, we must also call China out and insist that the economic playing field must be leveled. China cannot continue to manipulate its currency to undermine the American and global economy, and we cannot allow China to engage in the hijacking of American intellectual property, as Governor Romney has pointed out. Finally, China must improve human rights.

Governor Romney has also spoken about tariffs in the past. This idea is grossly irresponsible-a trade war between the United States and China will greatly complicate what will become the most important bilateral relationship of the 21st century. We cannot deal with China with these types of actions, no matter how crowd pleasing they may sound, and we have to keep a realistic, rational, and clear vision for our relationship with China as we move forward into the uncharted waters of the 21st century.

Huntsman Television Ad: Independence
Huntsman: I am an American. I am a former Governor. I am a former diplomat. I am a husband, and most importantly, I am a father. I know I have to make unpopular decisions, and take unpopular positions. Whether they are in my family, or in my own party, I know I have an obligation to do what is right. So please, stand with me. Stand for independence, so we can get America back on track!

Voiceover: Vote for a voice of Common Sense, not the echoes of talk radio. Vote Jon Huntsman!

Huntsman: I am Jon Huntsman and I approve this message.

(Ad airing in Florida, Maine, Nevada, and New Hampshire).

Senate candidate & former State House Majority Leader Adam Hasner (R-FL)

“With Governor Huntsman at the helm, 2012 is going to be a better year to be a Republican than 2010. Governor Huntsman is a true Conservative, a man who understands business and foreign policy, and a man who can lead the party to victory.”

Debate response.
We are fundamentally approaching health care reform the wrong way. Over the next decade, Obamacare will create uncertainty in the marketplace. This hurts not just the average American, but also the economy as a whole as well. If Obamacare is allowed to fully take effect, businesses aren't going to hire, and they're not going to deploy capital into the marketplace. So what do we do? I say, let the states experiment and find breakthroughs in how we address health care reform. All I want to do is do the kind of thing we did in the state of Utah. We don't have affordable insurance policies today, except in Utah. We have a stripped down bare bones catastrophic coverage policy that young people can actually afford. And unlike Governor Romney or the President, we didn’t need mandates to do it.

Huntsman TV ad: “Rhetoric and Action” (airing in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, and New Hampshire).

Voiceover: Some call him the “reasonable voice” in the Republican Party?  But Mitch Daniels served as President Bush’s Budget director for three years. What does that say about his “fiscal conservatism?”
(Clip of George Bush & Mitch Daniels airs, followed by chart showing rising deficit under Bush.)

Voiceover: But is Mitch Daniels the fiscal conservative he says he is? He is a fine man, and a good governor, but actions speak louder than words, and Jon Huntsman proves this. In Utah, he presided over the largest increase in job growth in the country, slashed taxes, and freed entrepreneurs from strangling regulations. Vote for action, vote for Jon Huntsman!

I am Jon Huntsman, and I approve this message.

Huntsman questioned by reporters after a rally in Mesa, Arizona.

Reporter #1: Governor Huntsman, have you any comment on Governor Daniels press conference?

Huntsman: Yes, it was sort of sad to hear a fellow candidate call me an "immature kid." It was also hypocritical; I admire President Obama. Like him or not, he is a historical figure, being the first African American president and all. I don't like his big spending policies, and I did not help design them. Governor Daniels needs to answer for that.

Reporter #2: What do you think about Governor Daniel's allegations that you have lied about your service in China?

Huntsman: I have never lied or tried to hide it. I was called to serve and served. I did not have a role in crafting policy, I simply represented American interests. So I am disappointed in Governor Daniels trying to build an image around himself that is simply false.

October 28th:

October 29th:
Resting at home in Utah.

Debate response.
“President Obama’s misguided Middle East policies have directly contributed to a breakdown of the peace process. Our friends in Israel have lost confidence in this administration, and no longer feel the President understands Israel’s security needs. And unlike Secretary Clinton’s photogenic stunt in Russia, we cannot just press a “reset” button, because the people of Israel are rightfully dubious of this administration’s commitment to their security and independence.” Under a Huntsman administration, this will change!"

In 2008, it was plausible but highly unlikely. In 2012, after Obamacare, Libya, the UBL raid, and many, many other issues, Ron Paul would just about rather commit suicide than serve as Obama's VP.

Huntsman debate response.
If you want a window into what this country is going to look like in the future if we don't get on top of our debt, you are seeing it playing out in Europe right now. You are seeing the negative effect of the banking sector. And what does it mean here? What am I most concerned about? I'm concerned that it impacts us in way that moves into our banking sector where we have got a huge problem called "too big to fail" in this country. We have six banks in this country that combined have assets worth 66 percent of our nation's GDP, $9.4 trillion. These institutions get hit. They have an implied bailout by the taxpayers in this country, and that means that we are setting ourselves up for disaster again. As long as we have banks that are "too big to fail" in this country, we are going to catch the contagion and it's going to hurt us. We have got to quit the bailouts, and make crucial spending cuts in order to avoid the fate of Europe.

Orrin Hatch endorses Jon Huntsman!
“Heading forward into next year’s election, the Republican Party needs a candidate who not only can win, but can lead the nation forward into a new era of common sense conservative policies. I have been blessed to have the very man needed serve as my Governor. I strongly urge all Republicans who like me were once supporters of Governor Romney to unite around Governor Huntsman, so we can defeat President Obama next year and restore responsible government.”

Dean Heller endorses Jon Huntsman!
“Jon Huntsman’s record as a governor, diplomat, husband, father, and man of faith is impeccable. He is a proven conservative with a pragmatic streak that has the experience to get this nation back on the right track.”

Jon Huntsman schedule: November 14th-November 20th.
November 14th:
Rally in Davenport, Iowa.
Meet and Greet with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans in Dubuque, Iowa.
Tour of Eimco East Iowa Machine Company in Farley, Iowa.
Dinner at the Golden Wok in Dyersville, Iowa.

“My campaign is going to be spending this week in Iowa, which picks two things-corn and Presidents!”
November 15th:
Rally in Des Moines, Iowa.
Rally in Manchester, Iowa.
Dinner at the Chuong Garden in Independence, Iowa.

“We've learned some important lessons as this economy has spun out of control. We have learned clearly from Solyndra that subsidies don't work and that we can no longer afford them. I believe that we can move toward renewable energy, but we're going to have to have a bridge product. Everybody wants to draw from the sun and draw from the wind, and I'm here to tell you that eventually that will make sense, but today the economics don't work. We need something like natural gas. It is ours, it's affordable, and we should begin the conversion process.
November 16th:
Rally in Sioux City, Iowa.
Meet and Greet with Republican activists in Sioux City, Iowa.
Meet and Greet with members of the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce.
Dinner at Perkin’s in Sioux City, Iowa.
November 17th:

Meet and Greet in Gladbrook, Iowa.
Meet and Greet in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Lunch at Sub City in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Meet and Greet in Boone, Iowa.

Debate response.
“I am a proud supporter of a “Right to Life” amendment to the Constitution. I have signed every piece of pro-life legislation that has come across my desk, and I will continue to do so. Regardless of our policy views, I know full well that Mr. Cain, Congressman Paul, Governor Huckabee, Governor Daniels, Senator Hutchinson and Senator Ayotte have and remain strong advocates for pro-life policies, and if there is one thing that can unite the Grand Old Party, it is our unwavering belief in the sanctity and value of human life.”

Jon Huntsman arriving at a rally in Davenport, Iowa.
“I do not hold much hope of winning this state, but I feel that the voters of Iowa should hear my message ahead of the caucuses before they go to the polls in a few months. I don’t plan on visiting all 50 states for the sake of visiting all 50 states, but my political strategy is not so cold and, well, political, as to ignore some key parts of the country who are hurting right now under the Obama economy.”

Debate Response
"I have been a Governor, a diplomat, and a businessman. But most importantly, I am a husband, and a dad. I am running for President because I love this country. We are a nation that is hurting, that is scared, and that is bankrupt. We have a growing cancer called debt, and we must deal realistically with it. We are about to pass down the greatest nation that ever was to the next generation that is less good, less productive, and less competitive then the country we got. President Obama won in 2008 on hope. I am going to win in 2012 on solutions."

Huntsman rally in Nashua, New Hampshire.
“We stand at the door of history. Do we close it behind us, and let the next generation of American’s deal with the mess created, or do we stand up and clean up our generations mess? President Obama and most of my fellow Republican candidates will close the door behind them. I won’t even enter the door until the many problems facing America are solved.”

Debate Response:
“What I really need to learn is how to tell a joke properly, actually. My daughters criticize me for not being exciting enough, and not being as sociable as I can be when I meet voters. Of course, throughout my campaign, I have met several different types of people with all kinds of stories and backgrounds, and it has greatly enhanced my understanding of the fabric of America more than I can ever could have imagined.”

Jon Huntsman at the VFW in Concord, New Hampshire.
“Today, as I stand before all of the veterans here today, many of whom are in your uniforms and wearing your medals and ribbons. I see in your eyes stories which you could compare to the hero Odysseus of Homer’s “The Odyssey”. I see before me America’s greatest generation. I see the generation that gave birth to my generation. And, quite frankly, my generation has failed you, and we have failed our children. We cannot pass down America worst off to our kids, who are your grandchildren, worst off than we found it.”

"The Euro zone crisis is vastly important to the world, and is a strong threat to international economic stability. To have a successful fiscal union, like the United States has a fiscal union, you need labor mobility just to begin the conversation. At this time, Europe does not have close to the amount of labor mobility that you need to get the ball rolling again. Some of the wealthier European states will have to bail out the failing ones to maintain the Euro. And that’s exactly what should be done-the wealthier European states. This economic crisis is a European creation, and Europe should clean up the mess they made for the rest of the world. I will not bail out the Euro when Germany, who stands far more to benefit from it than we will, can do it, especially when we are drowning in debt to China."
