I'm confused by this scandal. Did it happen recently or 4 years ago when Ayotte was in the Senate? And if it was 4 years ago, was the boy 14 then or now? Please say then.
It happened while she was VP. She was presiding over the Senate during a vote.

This is phenomenal. A much better scandal than I could come up with for Cuomo in my timeline.

2014 United States Midterm Elections
" Looking back, after a Government Shutdown and near default on the Federal Debt Ceiling, the Republican Party's popularity going into 2014 was piss-poor. To make matters worse for the party, Obamacare did not become the boogeyman that they'd hoped would lead them to a Midterm Victory. The glitches that had plagued the insurance exchanges at the start gate were fixed, and enrollment soared. The ACA was a- mostly a success. There was no net-change for either party in the Senate. Republican pick-ups in West Virginia and South Dakota were muted by Democratic gains in Georgia and Kentucky. In the House, the only thing that saved the GOP was their control of the 2010 Redistricting Process. Gerrymandering kept Democrats at only 5 gains. People thought the Republican Party was dead on arrival in 2016. And Democrats were salivating at having 12 years in the White House. They'd been fired up in 2014. 2 years later... not so much. They didn't count on Moderate Hero Mark Warner being the Democratic Nominee."
