We had keyboarding in 4th grade... but the guidance counselors pretty much made everybody sign up for keyboarding I in high school.  So I took it.  Aced it.

I can usually type about 90 words per minute if I'm really into it.

When I was very young, maybe 5 or 6, my mom taught me touch typing with proper home row posture and everything. Because I learned it so early I find it quick typing to be simple and intuitive, and can even type somewhat decently one-handed when  needed, like I'm doing right now since my right hand is holding my cigarette.

edit:
That's why my posts sometimes go on and on - in part Tongue

^^^^^
This is probably the single biggest reason for my long EffortPosts as well.

I was unaware there were people above elementary school age who don't touch type.

I'm one of those, too. I simply never needed any touch typing skills for the texts I wrote.

a bit of a hunt and peck, certainly not proper, certainly an overuse of the index fingers, but use of the others as well.  voted two fingers.

you do realize that the thread was about typing, and not about wanking, don't you?

I wank backhand, which always gave my high school friends reason for a hoot and holler.
