Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Wow. I genuinely did not at all think that Brown would really go for it. I didn't think he was smarter than this, necessarily, but I did think he was lazier--or, to be charitable, more tired.

I still don't think this'll go that well for him. The primary against Bob Smith, assuming it happens, is going to be glorious.

He wins the primary, Shaheen wins in November by double digits. Which would be a rather pathetic end to a once-promising career, IMO.

If he were to lose the primary to Smith, he can always run against Hassan in '16. Wink

Or he could move to Vermont and lose to Patrick Leahy

Early Primary Prediction

Bob Smith wins the battle of the carpetbaggers 51-48. (Although I still think Smith has residency in Florida...)

It's not that I think a Brown-Smith primary will be at all close, I just think it'll be funny.

I think RogueBeaver's got the right idea about how this is going to go.

He didn't run for governor because Massachusetts Republicans already have a consensus non-loony candidate.

Would be plausible if Rubens and Testerman dropped out. I'm expecting Brown to get somewhere in the 40s.

It'd be interesting how the Tea Party deals with Brown, considering they're much stronger in New Hampshire than Massachusetts, and that Brown is pro-choice.

Probably staying home or running a third-party candidate. The anti-Brown vote is split between three candidates right now, and I see the Libertarian candidate getting 5-9% of the vote (depending on how strong the anti-D mood is).

But I'm still keeping this Safe D. Whatever moderates who will vote for Brown will be offset by conservative anger.
