I've come to realize over the years the U.S. should not be involved in the business of killing citizens... for whatever reason that may be.  Bloodthirsty-ness is not an emotion that should be coddled.  Sometimes I wish we would throw mass-murderers (what the Boston guys strived to be) and others accused of heinous acts on this level into solitary and feed 'em a bowl of slurry from time to time.  Why get them the easy out of lethal injection?  Just go all Shawshank Solitary on their ass!

In which direction?  I could easily see support for the death penalty a decade from now be higher, lower, or about the same as it is now.

I'm not the first to say that I'm rather relieved that the number is this low. It's probably fairly close to the polling on the death penalty as a whole, let alone when the poll is death vs. life without parole (which tends to favor the latter option). I think life without parole is the most appropriate punishment.
