Makes sense if Madigan's running.

If Madigan runs, what do you think more determined Republican candidates like Dillard/Rutherford will do?

You're the Illinoisian, you tell me. I don't know anything about IL politics. There are some Pubs who're already in... but no one beats Madigan if she runs.

I guess they run for state office again. Dillard and Rutherford's CDs are already firmly occupied.

Rutherford vs Madigan race, Dillard would have beaten Quinn in 2010 but not Madigan.

Good move for him if Madigan's running. Schock is young enough that he'll still be a good candidate if Illinois starts shifting Republican in a decade or so.

I doubt Madigan is running.  She's never expresses much interest that I know of, but I certainly wouldn't count her out.

Dillard would certainly have not beaten Quinn.  I remember seeing polls before the primaries that showed Quinn beating all of his Republican challengers except Jim Ryan.

The polls you are thinking of turned out to be little more than name ID, and were not useful in forecasting the general election. Dillard's base in the suburbs was more like Kirk's and would have been the difference considering the narrow margin of Brady's loss where he lacked any suburban base.

At this point any doubt that she's not running is wishful thinking. Attorneys general don't raise $800,000 in a quarter without any ulterior motives (nor do any downticket candidates). Durbin is running. There's only one opportunity open to actually use the big bucks she got.

He's young and it is smart to just wait for a time when the Dems are more vulnerable and not running crazy popular candidates like Lisa Madigan or Dick Durbin. I don't know why they are popular, but they are.

Schock is young, yes, but I think it's questionable if he's smart. Only thing he's ever done was take of his shirt.
