I mean, if it was legal, it'd be safer and more hygenic, and women wouldn't be abused anymore! Feedback, and debate.

Agreed.

Not exactly true, although it would make it safer to report abuses and handle them. But that's some really awful language regardless.

Prostitution should be legal.   Yes, you could argue that prostitutes could have their lives ruined and that prostitution could ruin marriages, but people have the responsibility to make their own choices, and if those choices turn out to be poor ones... well that's just how a free society works.

Whores would still be abused, but legalization would likely improve public health and generate sorely-needed tax revenue.  Opponents say that it promotes the repression of women and encourages commercial exploitation and global trafficking.  Proponents say that it takes the girls off the streets and makes the whole venture cleaner.  We have had a few polls on this, and with the exception of a few leftist/feminist types the consensus here is that it should be legal.  You're preaching to the choir, so to speak.

There is most likely already one. There is already prostitutes on it at evenings. At least, they would be in a building, not on the street, soliciting customers.

That's pretty much it.  There are probably a few here that will argue against it, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of us here agree that it should be legal.

But unlike the majority of them, I actually vote for people that would legalize it.

Would you want a brothel on your Main Street?

It wouldn't particularly bother me.

Even better, if prostitution was legal and regulated then the state/city would create/designate a red light district and nobody would care.

Yes, that's basically what happens here.

The main street here is actually named Queen Street, and on Queen Street in the evenings I sometimes notice scantily clad women walking about, flagging down some of the late-model cars.  I don't know of any brothels, but what we do have in the United States is "Escort Agencies."  In the absence of outright legal prostitution, they serve this purpose for the higher-end customers.  Most accept major credit cards and the escorts are often highly paid.  The nearest big market to me is Philadelphia.  It's about a one hour and seven minute train ride.  A quick internet yellowpage search turned up 47 escort service outlets in Philadelphia:  http://www.yellowpages.com/philadelphia-pa/escort-service

Yup, shove the seedy underbelly away from polite society where it's bad effects won't be noticed by the respectable public.

That's the way it is every day in every big city regardless of legalized prostitution.

Sure it should be legal, but I don't think you can really "buy" sex.

I think it should be legal, regulated, and taxed. I wouldn't really care if there was a brothel on my main street.

Would you want a brothel on your Main Street?

Two things.

1.  My town has more than one street.

2.  Prostitutes don't just work in brothels.

You're preaching to the choir, so to speak.

Lol.  You can tell the guy is a noob.  There really is no way to get a "debate" going around here on topics like that.

Legalized and regulated prostitution is safer and healthier for the women engaged in prostitution, so of course I support it.

The Christian Right and prudery.  These are the ones who think of someone getting their rocks off and think, "OH HOW AWFUL!".

I know. If its going to be legal though, I want it out in the open. Let's air the dirty laundry out.

It should be legal, but I find the practice morally repulsive.

Perhaps the wrong choice of words. My point being, if prostitution is going to be legal, I'd prefer it be out in the open in middle class neighbourhoods. Let the full effects be felt to the middle class person. Perhaps a brothel next to the dry cleaners.
