Time for another special election.

Personally, I don't like Watt that much and this district is Safe D anyways. This gives the North Carolina delegation some much-needed new blood.

He's on the Financial Services committee, the Charlotte HQ of Bank of America is in his district, and he's a defender of the Federal Reserve... so I suppose that makes sense. I expect however we elect next will see which side their bread is buttered on no less than Mr. Watt.

Thank you Obama. As long as his hands can stay off of my Internet I'm fine with it.

The most obvious replacement would likely be State Senator Malcolm Graham, though he's apparently interested in running for mayor as well. He's represented west-central Charlotte for 5 terms in the Assembly.

I'd personally like Rep. Alma Adams, but she's from Greensboro.

Its kinda hard to determine who would be most interested because Watt has held CD12 ever since it was created.

The Charlotte Observer looked at some candidates.

The most obvious replacement would likely be State Senator Malcolm Graham,

Adams is still open to it, but this is the big problem:

When Graham runs he'll start off with a nice base. The precincts in red are the one that he currently represents in the State Senate and are also in CD12. He'd need to consolidate the Charlotte vote and he'd be fine against anyone from the Triad.

Malcolm Graham is running.

State Rep. Marcus Brandon, of Guilford County, is also likely in.

Graham should probably be favored, if nothing else because of geography.

Watt will go in front of the Senate Banking Committee tomorrow. Unlike Foxx, who is soaring to confirmation, Watt may have a rockier time:

Lindsey Graham is holding up Watt's nomination until he gets more information about BENGAHZEE. Gotta please that base somehow.

The Club for Growth has also stated it will be watching who votes for Watt's confirmation. Right now Watt has all 54 Democrats, plus Richard Burr and the soon-to-be-sworn-in Cory Booker. But that leaves 4 Republicans needed for cloture.

As expected, Lindsey Graham obstructs and pretends to care about four Americans dying. Didn't seem to give much of a sh**t when we had a Benghazi every year under a Republican.

Lindsay Graham doesn't care about Benghazi. But he cares very much about his own reelection and next year Senate primary in SC))))))))

Meanwhile, crickets on the 30th anniversary of 299 Americans dying in Beirut thanks to Reagan's idiocy.

The nuclear option should clear the way for Watt's confirmation.

For State Rep. Marcus Brandon, this race will be up or out for his career.

Who are you rooting for in NC-12, Miles?

I guess I'm supporting Brandon for fairly tribal reasons- Greensboro is fairly poorly represented, and it would be cool for NC to have an openly gay rep.

I like Alma Adams, but someone younger would probably have more potential. I guess I'm too partial to anyone at this point.

James Mitchell, who ran in the Charlotte mayor D primary, will be running for this seat.

I was going to say that Malcolm Graham would have a chance of cleaning up the Charlotte vote, but the name rec from the mayor's race should help Mitchell. The Charlotte Observer actually endorsed him over Cannon.
