Being that you're jmfcst's designated liaison, I assume you are talking about him. If so, you know for sure that's not accurate.

He came to mind, but only after the idea of a politically-correct echo chamber did.

If you want to quantify it ideologically, the subset of posters who post their political matrix scores average about (-2, -3), so they're a tad left of center and a tad below center, but none of that is the most striking aspect of the forum in its current state of evolution.

Libertarians are by far the most overrepresented group.

He's not a cult hero, he's mostly hated.  There is a core of people that have been here a long time (and a smaller group of people that want to be accepted by them...for some reason) and they mostly think of opebo as a mascot.  There are only a small handful of people that consider him a "hero", cult or otherwise and every single one of them has some issues.  Look at the head of the fan club for sh**ts sake....

65% FF is mostly hated?  And I didn't say opebo is MY hero... I'm just saying he is one.  I don't have "heroes".

There you go.

Oh, and re: Libertarianism being overrepresented here...well, what else do you expect, considering the demographics of this forum?

I hear this a lot, and I am getting sick of it to be honest. What is so wrong about being a "wealthy white suburban male?" Yes, most of us do not live in a neighborhood where I hear gunshots every night or frequently get harassed because of my race or gender, but that does not make a person or their views any less worthy.

I recall a thread last year sometime asking people to summarize their default idea of the average American person and/or family, and quite frankly it read like one fairytale after another. It's not necessarily a bad thing, more of an interesting footnote, but the lack of exposure to the Joe Sixpacks of the land here is abundantly evident. My apologies for evoking the harpy.
