We'll see if Democrats can eschew a primary in CD2:

Good lord, they're relying on Corrine Brown to be their subtle negotiator? I knew the Florida Democrats are in a pretty bad state but I didn't know they were doing THAT poorly.
At least it is not Crazy Hat Lady Frederica Wilson.

Better being known for hats than for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgbBP9Em00A

In other news, I had dinner with a bunch of state senators a few nights ago. I was told that the view among the political class up in Tallahassee is that Scott has finally started to turn the corner and things are starting to look better for his reelection.

The Florida Democratic Party got their first big recruit to run against Jeff Atwater for CFO this weekend, Allie Braswell, who heads the Central Florida Urban League.

....Only for him to drop out of the race 4 days later because it was revealed that he has filed for bankruptcy 3 times in more than one state over the last few decades.

Its good to see that the incompetence of the Florida Democratic Party hasn't changed.

This is the state of the Dem state party in one of the most pivotal states in the nation, and in less important states things are a lot worse..

Actually no. During this century, the Florida Democratic Party has been the least successful at winning statewide races (statewide is state-level stuff, not Senate) of any Democratic Party east of the Mississippi.

Florida Democrats are HORRIBLE at statewide offices.

They haven't won the governorship since 1994 and they haven't won some down-ballot offices since like 1998.

Did Crist even govern during his time as Governor?

He's running. I'd expect him to announce his candidacy shortly. Once the Sink news has died down so it doesn't look like it's immediately in response to this, but yeah, he'll run.

Did Crist even govern during his time as Governor?

He vetoed the abortion bill and the 'education' bill, introduced new environmental targets, the deal with US Sugar, and signed the paper ballots law, among others.

Any thoughts on Crist Lt. Gov. picks? I could see Buddy Dyer, Pam Iorio, Bob Buckhorn, or either member of the 2010 ticket. If it wouldn't irk the Dems too much, I could see Paula Dockery or Mike Fasano too.

I'm curious, could some of you folks from Florida highlight why the Democratic party down there is lacking?  Are there any particular reasons?

Just really bad organizing, especially compared to the Republican machine down here. Gerrymandering also has a big part in it.
