Let me guess, Scott moves to a rental mansion while the FL Governor's Mansion is being repaired.

Just heard (from SJoyce) that Rick Kriseman has been elected Mayor of St. Pete.

By a dominating 12-point margin over the GOP incumbent, no less. Dems sweep City Council races as well, with the closest being 10 points. Good sign for FL-13 and for Charlie.

Also: Crist has raised half a million so far.

Interesting story that's come up recently: one of the big time Florida political commenters, Peter Schorch at SaintPetersBlog, has been accused of pressuring people to buy ads to get good coverage and giving bad coverage to people who refuse. Apparently, they're restarting criminal investigations now after the Tampa Bay Times brought the story up. The story is here:  http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/cash-for-coverage-questions-arise-about-local-political-blogger-peter/2152747

Acc'd to the Times, Scott has a Lt. Gov. shortlist of 4, including an appointed superintendent of schools and a county commissioner.

I'd put my money on Eslinger or Joyner; it'd be very odd for a South Florida Republican to run without someone from the North to balance out the ticket.

I don't know if this poll is skewed or not, but Murphy is a strong candidate. It would surprise me if he doesn't become a senator or a governor one day.
No, this was basically an internal poll. This is as worthless as a quadriplegic soccer player.

It's got enough worth for Sabato to change the race from Toss-Up to Lean D.
I think he does have high approvals, but he is not leading Adam Hasner or Carl Domino by 30%; that’s just hooey.

It's worth mentioning that most sources say Hasner is leaning against running.
Didn't see this until now, but what sources say that? He is selling his home to move to a new district, keep in mind. That is a big sign for something.

One of those four just asked to be removed from consideration.

So, the NRCC say that none of Murphy's declared challengers are on the radar.

82% of Floridians want to legalize medical marijuana, only 48% want to legalize marijuana for personal use.

IIRC, the NRCC did some fundraising for Andel. Which they wouldn't bother doing if they thought Hasner was incoming.

The NRCC didn't fundraise for Andel, but the entire female Republican delegation to the House did. However, an article on the Huffington Post did mention that the endorsements by promiment members (including Shelley Capito of West Virginia) is a sign that the establishment is getting anxious about Hasner running.

See, that and the fact that Hasner has been waiting for a long time are starting to make me doubt if he is going to run. Keep in mind, Andel is only the Vice Mayor of a nearby town, while Hasner was State House Majority leader. If he were not interested in running, he would have said so by now. So I suspect he is running for something, but I'm not sure for what.

I think he still is the strongest candidate against Murphy, and that the FL-18 race is his best option going into the future. If Hasner doesn't run, and that may happen, it won't be him being scared out of the race.

Rick Scott's chief of staff, Adam Hollingsworth, lied on his job application. He correctly stated that he had attended the University of Alabama from 86-90 and had a BA in communications. What he "forgot" to mention is that he didn't actually get the degree until 2009 when he went back and finished it. This is probably enough to get him kicked out, which is bad luck for Scott. I don't know if we should read too much into this; I try to stay up with Florida news and didn't hear about this for a few days, but it is bad luck for Scott who may be about to lose his 3rd chief of staff.

Jeff Atwater is seeking the FAU Presidency; assuming he is selected, his position as CFO opens up. Whoever is selected could enjoy a quick, easy rise to the Governor's mansion in 2018 if they play their cards right.

Joe Negron has stated that he won't run. Any guesses as to who will run?

George LeMeiux is also in the running for the FAU Presidency, according to the Palm Beach Post.

He's choosing a property appraiser to be a Lieutenant Governor?

He's choosing a Hispanic and former State Rep. with a strong base in South Florida to be a Lieutenant Governor.

Scott's LGs so far have been:
1.) African American female and 3-term State Rep in Jennifer Carroll, who served as LG until her resignation under political scandal
2.) Latino male and former State Rep in Carlos Lopez-Cantera.

That's historic man !

In a state that's already elected a Hispanic governor (in 1986), not particularly.

Still, it'd be funny if he got convicted.
