Florida Democrats will forever RUE the day they should've got Nelson to run for the Florida governorship this year. He would've easily beat the sh**t out of Scott.

A whistleblower from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity says she was fired after alerting the Scott admin that she uncovered fraud in the DEO and refusing to participate in the coverup. FL Commish on Human Relations found the Scott admin failed to correct the fraudulent activities. The DEO wrongfully turned over 19k Floridian to collection agencies, which could represent nearly a $2B legal liability for the state, to be paid by taxpayers. Press conference going on now.

Here's a link to an article on it: http://www.saintpetersblog.com/archives/149697

This could be a big deal if it becomes widely known and is used effectively in ads.

The Crist campaign will be sponsoring (kinda - got a wrap as an in-kind donation) the John Wise car at the Firecracker 400 at Daytona this Friday.

So when does Crist plan on advertising? He seems to be making the Romney mistake of letting his opponent have the airwaves to himself for a long period of time. It might not end up mattering in the end since Scott is so toxic, but it seems like a severe miscalculation.

So far I have seen one Crist bumpersticker and a thousand Scott attack ads that are ripping him to shreds. Other than that, you'd have no idea he was running.

The state of Florida's Democratic Party continues to show its ineptitude.  Before long, Crist is going to become Michael Dukakis, who got defined early and often in the race and never really recovered.

Charlie has other things to overcome, including the whole flip-flopping parties.  This should be an easy victory for the Democrats, but as I saw in the years I lived there, only Florida Democrats know how to blow races like this.

So perhaps Rich would be a better option at this point? Honestly I think a blank slate who's had zero fire directed at her to date might be a better way to go than the damaged, lazy Crist.

It could happen if the FL Dems and Obama campaign wanted to help her out, but it might be too late in the game to get Rich from "a somebody candidate" to a popular, well-known candidate in a matter of a month (primary is Aug. 26th). I don't know if a competitive Democratic primary is worth costing us any realistic chance at taking out Scott anyways.

Rich started at 16%, no doubt her numbers are probably up from there, and I think an upset is possible when we see Crist behind at this point.

Bit OT, but if Crist loses (as I think seems likely) would Alvin Brown be a good fit for 2018? What about Bill Buckhorn? The bench doesn't seem to be stellar.

The bench sucks.

We need to recruit actual candidates for state house and senate. Then we can recruit those members to run for statewide offices. We need to rebuild the party.

Bench still sucks, but Brown is to the right of the average FL Dem, and faces a tough re-election fight against former RPOF Chair Lenny Curry. I would look at Buckhorn or Pam Iorio (and maybe Buddy Dyer) as our only real chances at 2018.

Molly Ball reported on the shoestring campaign back in March. As for that report... insert the Nelson Muniz GIF.
