Does the "V" sound come in the first syllable of Nevada?  It doesn't for me.  Like

Options 1 & 5. I'll admit though, the diversity of pronunciation I've seen around this forum makes me wonder if the "colo" part of Colorado isn't a point of contention as well.

The V is typically in the second syllable, but I was mainly attempting to distinguish between the a vowel sound in the middle of both words.

Options 1 and 5. I think option 4 is something of a faux pas within the state.

In my native dialect, [,cɑ.lə.'ɻæ.doʊ] and [nə.'væ.də].  However, I've since learned that Coloradans prefer [,cɑ.lə.'ɻɑ.doʊ], and I've adjusted my pronunciation accordingly.

First two options for each state, everyone in this state hates me for it

I think option 4 is something of a faux pas within the state.

Every Nevadan I've met has either corrected me if I pronounced it incorrectly, or noted approvingly if I pronounced it correctly.

Option 2 for Nevada. And my Colorado rhymes with Nevada, I end it with "uh".

Really? Option 2 makes me think of 'rad' like "that's pretty rad bro"

Colo-rad-oh?

Colo-rad-oh?

That's exactly it. But it's more ColAradoh and then a few Republicans try to make us southern and say Colarada
