As far as the Navy thing goes...

If I do well on the ASTB test and the board likes my resume, I should be heading out to officer training in Newport.

Not so much?  I'll go enlisted and try to request being stationed in Japan.  Of course, you go where they tell you, but you DO get a wishlist of three most preferred places to be stationed.  Japan would be AMAZING.  Later on, I would like to be around Jersey, but not before getting out there a bit.

Briefly relaxed this morning.  It was nice.

I'm starting to wonder if the stress I've been undergoing the past year or so has been adversely affecting my value as a poster by making me more irritable and quick to default to the aspects of my personality and worldview that piss people off, or if the anxiety derived from the stress has been making me think that it has. (I'm also wondering this about my value as a friend in real life.)

I certainly don't see that here.

Given that honesty is important to me, I would say Nathan that there are instances of that coming across in posts. I've tended to point them out when they had anything to do with me and you seem to notice them too so no need to fret too much.

This week I had my tooth pulled. Huzzah. I was also here;

Nathan, to be honest like Afleitch, I think there have been a couple times when you have been more aggressive and less thoughtful than you are capable to, but I don't think this is something you should worry about at all. It happens to almost all of us on this forum. Often people here are stupid jerks and all we want to do is to tell them to screw themselves. I do this all the time, and many of our best posters do.

Played a lot of golf this weekend in the 90+ degree weather. Had too many martinis.  Ate well though. No brief relaxations to report. Sad

I showed up at work this morning and half of the office was missing. Real estate attorneys' staff has to be the laziest I have come across. My supervisor is "sick" which likely means I will be mindlessly web surfing while doing whatever random things the ones that actually showed up ask me to do.

Sounds like a wonderful workplace!  To work where others are getting away with being lazy/not showing up is a dream.

The rest came in at like 9:30. I have had nothing to do all day, so I have forum surfed and watched my portfolio get slammed. I guess that's better than last summer... Tongue

I'm in a major with an 80% attrition rate with one semester left, my cat had been ailing for a while and died last month, and there have been a lot of health problems in my family.

I cannot speak about your other problems, but regarding the academic aspect, I hope you trust me when I say you will be fine. I don't mean it as a simple encouragement. From what you have told me, I think we are very similar in this regard. Every semester, I panic and convince myself that this time I won't make it, and in the end, like you, I always pass rather easily. I don't know the details of your situation and I know it's much easier to say this when you're not directly concerned, but I hope you take my word for it.

Next time I am the one panicking about academics, a similar comment would probably help me out a lot. Wink

Another slow day in the office. Today, all the coworkers in the firm started reading my Yelp restaurant reviews, and that caused quite a stir. Tongue

No research projects where you are asked to look into something where the law is a mess, with no answers, and was just waiting for some summer clerk to dump it on, because nobody else wanted the turd?  You are living a charmed life Dukey.

I had something like that Friday, which caused me to spend all afternoon and part into the evening working on it. This week has been pretty slow. Real estate doesn't seem as complicated as other types of law from all I have seen so far.

Japanese. The program at my university has a reputation among both other departments at the university and the analogous departments in other universities in the region for being intensive, but part of the attrition rate does admittedly derive from the fact that some people who declare the major as freshmen have expectations that would be unrealistic for any serious study of a foreign language.

What's the attrition rate in an American University undergraduate program typically like?
