It's strange that Canada never took to cricket, unlike the other Dominions...

I was guessing it was an Abrigonal thing - but then the Yukon pretty much has the same demographics (I guess) and has a very good turnout?

Does Bruce Hyer have any hopes of retaining his seat standing as a Green?

I wouldn't say the contemary Liberals are equidistant from the Dippers and Tories though, they seem to be closer to the lefties than the Conservatives who have largely jettisoned their Reds.

Basically the Liberal party doesn't really stand for anything at all beyond Canadian nationalism ('federalism') and so can quite easily flop everywhere around the spectrum. I wouldn't even argue they are close to Lib Dems - although ironically you could compare the party (especially its regional variants in Quebec etc) to the Japanese party of the same name.

Say, I was looking at the map for the last election and I noticed something I thought was peculiar. The NDP won their best result ever - and yet they didn't manage to get any seats in Saskatchewan, the province where historically they have dominated? Huh Even in that regional poll that Canadaland just posted, the NDP are level with their numbers in Atlantic Canada, a region with no real Dipper tradition. What's up with that?

They should have distinguished between "don't know" and "none". Like are all those Green voters in black unsure of whether to pick Grit or Dip; or are they steadfast supporters who don't even need to pick a second choice. That would be helpful.

RIP Mario Beaulieu, Freedom Fighter. Cry

Will this mean the anti-mario party will rejoin the Bloc or are the bridges burnt?

Do the Bloc exclusively steal off left-leaning votes, or does it also get CAQ conservative Francophones who might vote Tory as well?

Tbf I think criticising Harper for hiding in a closet when an armed gunmen is shooting is a bit low. He's elected to (ostensibly) run the country, not be a badass. I would probably piss myself if I thought someone was shooting at me.

Tbf, the Lib Dems did great in 97 due to a great targeting campaign. The liberals have been campaigning up to now on the basis of forming government, assuming that the Orange Crush was a bust. I don't see how much targeting the Liberals have been doing.

Why is this Adams character jumping ship? And why is she disliked by our resident Tories - she a showboat?
