Disgusting classism and Southron-hate from our enlightened progressive brethern:

The average IQ of the United States would increase by several points.

Porous borders for the first few years could solve that problem. Also send the wingnuts from the North down there.

What would be left of America would be an infinitely better place.

I like how you completely ignored the context of my tongue in cheek quote.

Option 3, because Jesus likely didn't even exist.

In the unlikely event that he actually did exist, I would choose Option 1:

"Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, 'You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.' When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions." - Mark 10:21-22

"Then he looked up at his disciples and said: 'Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.'" - Luke 6:20-21

"Then the king will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.'" - Matthew 25:34-36

Those verses are conveniently missing from most Republican-owned Bibles, I suppose.

It is unbelievable that colleges across the country, even those in "liberal" states, allow these openly segregationist organizations to exist.

Good on you. This is the type of stuff that pretty much everyone can agree is terrible (and generally sage).

There's no such thing as a pure socialist state or a pure capitalist state. Everything is a blend to some extent.

Explain to me, please, how this is ignorant, absurd, or bad.

Socialism means the ownership of the means of production by the people, either through the state, trade unions, or directly. IceSpear seems to be conflating "taxpayer-funded public services" with socialism, which is a totally ridiculous claim to make.

Can we not have free markets and nationalized industry, like many nations in the world today? What you call socialism seems to be closer to communism, though I'm no expert on either.

Did we slap sanctions on Bahrain when they murdered protesters? Oh wait no, they're our ally so it's okay.

Well of course. It would be stupid to make foreign policy solely on humanitarian grounds. The goal is to gain influence and power, not to be nice and moral.

The reason I think the West should support the "rebels" in this case is almost solely to undermine Russia.

FFs because I am one.
Jesus supported social justice in his time.
Democrats support social justice.
Therefore, Jesus would support Democrats.
It's simple logic.
HPs. They remind me of a guy I know who claims Lincoln was a Keynesian.
While that would be anachronistic, Lincoln was practically a Keynesian.

I, at least, could tell that, it's just that the unspeakably awful things that started in Europe in 1933 (or before, really--and were ongoing in East Asia no matter how you look at it) sort of outweigh the good things that started in America.

It is true. Nixon tried to pass a health care act to the left of Obamacare. Nixon established the EPA, something that would never be accomplished today. He established an alliance with China. He ended the Vietnam War, a far bigger accomplishment than ending the Iraq wart. Nixon was more moderate in the Middle East.

And about Nixon's antisemitism and racism: that is very common with communists. That is the reason why liberalism is needed: it balances between bigoted conservatism and communism. That is the core of horseshoe theory.

Can you imagine that there was a presidential candidate (of a major party) that didn't vote for himself?

My answer: John McCain.
1.) He is very liberal and a decisive opponent of racism.
2.) He didn't want Palin to become president in case of his death.

What do you think?

It's simple logic.

'Social justice' means different things to different people.
Social justice is social justice. A=A. This is a very simple logical law.

Does the Catholic Church's Magisterium mean the same set of issues when it says 'social justice' as such-and-such dot tumblr dot com means when it says 'social justice'?
They are different in practice, but they ultimately mean the same thing.

See, the thing is, A=A is a very simple logical law, but it's not always true of the way people actually use language, so...
I don't know what you're getting at.

'Social justice' means different things to different people.

My retort to that was while their 'social justice' takes different forms, both are, at the core, the same thing.

Your retort didn't really help because it didn't explain how the Democratic Party has a monopoly on that core, as opposed to just certain manifestations of it.
The Democrats do have a monopoly, though. A good gage of the social justice scene is tumblr and when tumblr only supports one party it is the social justice party. There are no republican demisexuals for a reason.

The left-wing approach got Greece into this mess in the first place. Besides, it's not like Greece actually tried the right-wing approach. Ireland and Portugal are doing far better today than Greece is. Now the former two actually just did what was required of them while Greece...eh, not so much. But hey, if Greeks think they're going to be better of with Syriza, fine with me.

1966 film called Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? which was also a stage play.

A burnt out Richard Burton and a been-there-done-it Liz Taylor get liquored up and rip on each other for two hours with a younger couple in tow. There are many reasons, though, and the tension very much rubs off on the younger couple as everyone gets drunker and the night wears on, which is what is so great. I love it. Watching it is like enjoying a rich dessert. Smiley Too bad it is in black and white!

Words can't express...

I'm going to assume western Ukraine is more fiscally conservative, and eastern Ukraine is more socially conservative?
