I understand the backlash just in the sense that there is a fear that American identity and culture are eroding. America was always a melting pot: Newcomers learned English and became Americans. I think the ad reminds everyone that that has changed.

Ah, yes, "diversity," the magic word. I'd encourage you to look at Sweden to see how "diversity" lives up. As prosperous as it is in many fields, it has the highest rape rate in Europe, and more than half of those incidents are committed by Muslim immigrants.

Yeah, this is sadly a fact. Some of it stems from the nature of Islam in regards to treatment of women, but I'd suspect that much like higher crime rates among minorities and poor whites, much of it stems from poverty, unemployment, underemployment, etc.

I don't see how what I said was "white-supremacist" at all, given that I was critiquing a religion followed by many people of many backgrounds (and Arabs are considered white on the U.S. Census!) and not a racial group. Many of those same problems with religiously-justified sexism/homophobia/etc exist in all faiths, but especially the more conservative interpretations of Islam and Christianity.

It's grossly unfair to put Hagrid's reasonable post with Cassius and Snowstalker's white nationalism. No comment on Spiral's post, as I didn't follow the whole Muslim immigration side argument.

One is responsible for just throwing some eggs at a house and damaging property while the other could have escalated us into another war. Sorry Warner, but you're a hypocrite and a bully. And to make it worse, Warner is nearly 60 and he's going after a constantly bullied singer who's only 19. Everyone makes mistakes at this age and what Warner is supporting is out of line.

Also, the only reason you guys Deluged that is b/c it's JB. It's a matter of opinion of who people can like who they don't. Politically, as a Democrat (aside from the sanctions), I support Warner, but he made this very personal and unless he apologizes for his comments soon, I'm just going to support the Green candidate in the Senate race.

Like I said, I would have supported the Green candidate in the VA-Sen race anyways before Mark Warner made these comments about Justin Bieber b/c I won't support any 2014 Senate Dem who spoke in favor of the Iran sanctions which would have disrupted any chance at peace. So that also includes the Greens in DE, NJ, AK, AR, LA, and NC, but for the mainstream, I'll still give the Democrats in those states and VA my second preference over the Pubbie. There's no way I would ever support Christie O'Donnell, Brannon/Tillis, Treadwell/Miller/Palin etc. in those states over one thing.
