It's about time someone got to 'em.

This essentially sums up my view on thid. Christianity would have found it hard to progress and obtain it's dominant position (in terms of the faith held by the majority of people in the western world, at least until the 20th century) without isolating and/or crushing rival systems of 'belief'. As to the comment that this form of Christianity is intellectually and philosophically lazy, well, all I can say is that not everybody has the intelligence and is well-versed enough in philosophy to understand the deeper points of Christianity (I certainly don't). Does that mean it should simply fester on the irrelevent fringe of those capable of understanding the religion in it's entirety? No, and if some purity of thought is sacrificed in the process of getting the basic message across, then, frankly, the end justifies the means.

Because Teddy Roosevelt was a left-winger who was really a Republican in name only.

Race is a social issue more than an economic issue. But yes let's remind ourselves of the racism of 19th century politicians as if it weren't already bleeding obvious.

ITT: People excusing racism and imperialism.

Glad to see so much of the country is finally waking up to one of the greatest hoaxes in recent history

Perhaps 100 years from now, we'll all look back and have a laugh at those crazy radicals who tried to tell us arctic ice would be gone by 2012

So, this pathetic toddler of institution has the sheer temerity to challenge the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. I mean really...

Anyway, I don't quite understand how advocating intervention in Libya, where Qaddafi was basically butchering his own people, is imperialism. But hey, that's just me.

Imperialism is any interference in the internal politics of another state, as far as I'm concerned. Libyans should address their own internal politics just as the United States should address it's own internal politics.

Children's films are inevitably communistic and evil. Which is why I rarely watched any. I, to this day, credit my political views to almost complete avoidance of Disney children's films and instead watching real entertainment (I watched Zulu when I was 5 for instance). None of the socialistic liberul girly pap like the Little Mermaid, Mulan and whatnot.

That's obviously tongue-in-cheek.

Disgusting classism and Southron-hate from our enlightened progressive brethern:

The average IQ of the United States would increase by several points.

What classism? What Southron-hate? You're projecting and can't take a joke. I'm not even a progressive either.

If some liberal Senator is our champion, we're in real big trouble! I don't think I could vote for him because of his position on marriage

"I'm also opposed to taking rights from others in order to benefit other individuals" - Is this not the foundation of modern society?

To some extent, it is among the foundation stones of every society that has ever existed. I mean, some of us right-wingers, myself included, talk a big game about "left-wing social engineering'. We're correct, in the sense that the left does like to engage in social engineering (through the tax system, through education etc.). But, and this is a big but, so do we (or at least a few of us). I mean, take a few of my views, such as on keeping most drugs criminalised, supporting restrictions on Sunday shopping and censoring obscene publications. All of those count as some form of social engineering. The truth is, everybody supports it to some extent.
That sounds pretty socialist to me
