This entire timeline.

Some tidbits:

As all of you know (unless you have been living under a rock), the country and its allies have been in war for almost three years against the axis of The New Soviet Union, Communist France, China, The Islamist Alliance, Cuba, The United Socialist Rebpublics of Scandinavia, Venezuela, Argentina and Korea. President Newsom has been largely blamed for causing this war for not protecting our ally Turkey against invasion from Iran. There have been two invasions of Turkey in the recent years: the one in 2025 under President Rubio's timewatch that got straightened out in six short months and the one in 2029 during Newsom's administration that snowballed into the Third World War we are fighting today. IMHO, if you don't want a nuclear Holocaust, Vote ABN (anyone but Newsom!)

Selena Gomez--age 39--Junior US Senator from Texas

I used to have a huge crush on this girl when I was in high school. In fact, she was a Disney star 25 years ago and an international sex symbol just 15 years ago; not a conventional career before going into politics. Selena also was a chief campaigner for former President Rubio when he ran successfully both in the elections of 2020 and 2024. Gomez is a big hit with young male voters but not that much with women (she is strictly opposed to abortion). Although being extremely conservative on social issues she has many liberal views concerning the environment and immigration. If she wins she will be the second hispanic president (although she is only half) and the third Catholic president in a row (Christie, Rubio, Newsom and then her). Gomez also would be the youngest president ever and of course, the first female president. We already have a female VP (Stephanie H. Sandlin) so it's about time we get a woman for president! Interestingly, she went out with the late teen singer Justin Bieber, whose early death at age 24 illustrates how fame at an early age can negatively impact a person.

David Henrie--age 42--Junior US Senator from Arizona

The libertarian vice-presidential nominee in 2028, Henrie became a senator in a special election to take the seat of John McCain after his death in 2024. An interesting fact about him is that he starred on the children's TV "Wizards of Waverly Place" alongside fellow candidate Selena Gomez (his "sister" on the show). Though Henrie is a republican he strongly agrees with many views of the Libertarian party and ran on the bottom of their ticket in 2028. He has stated that he will seek the libertarian nomination if he fails to get nominated for the Republican ticket.

Freddie Prinze, Jr.--age 55--governor of New Mexico

Another former actor though not nearly as famous as Selena Gomez. Prinze is strongly against big government and like the fellow Southwestern candidate Henrie, he is part of the more libertarian wing of the Eepublican Party.

Kyler Boller--age 50--governor of California

A former NFL Quarterback, Boller has a close group of supporters who liked his economic plans when he was governor of California and previously mayor of San Diego. His wife Carrie is an ex-model famous for her controversial remarks about gay marriage over 20 years ago.

There is no such thing as a free breakfast. There are of course plenty of paid by someone else breakfasts already handed out by heavily overfunded spendthrift school districts.

And as manufacturing moves back to the US but in work-for-less states, we may see union influence/activism shift to the South, making it the new Rust Belt.

the Pubs will tend to have the advantage in off year elections, and the Dems in POTUS elections, when persons of color, and youngs find the time to put down their bongs, and go out and vote in a way they don't in off year elections

Emphasis my own.

The absurd, ignorant, and bad part is in bold.
I hope a reliable firm like PPP does some new polling in a week or so, I'd be interested to see where things stand. Though I think Davis would be a really long shot in '14, it's worth noting that Tuesday morning she had 1,200 Twitter followers. It's now over 80k. If they screw her district to where she can't win reelection, she should go for Governor anyway.

Draft: Institute a mandatory period of “national service” for young men and women, with a term of service in the armed forces as a possible way to satisfy this requirement.  Maintain the selective service system, and start to collect information on young women.  If a draft ever has to be reinstituted, draft all eligible males before dipping in the “ladies’ pool”.

I don't know if this one could be categorized as 'absurd,' 'ignorant,' or 'bad,' but I think it's downright scary that there are people in this country who think this way.

It's actually defensible if there are multiple options for "national service" besides military service; in fact, I'd be tempted by such an idea.

gott im himmel

You know, panem et circenses. It was used under the Roman Empire, but still true today.

Okay don't go throwing your fancy Latin at me, buddy. Pan-Am aside, I can't remember ever learning about Elvis or hearing about The Beatles or learning who Abraham Lincoln was. It just always kinda was there for as long as I can remember.

I think many people also see time differently. I made my mother laugh the other day because she asked when something had taken place and I was thinking and said, "Um...not too long ago...2003, ten years ago." She laughed. "Ten years ago is long ago." Not in my mind. 60+ years is when you really get "long ago" in my mind.

Two years ago on the Fourth of July, I asked a very sweet and pretty 18 year old girl why we celebrate the Fourth of July and she couldn't tell me. She said, "Why?" I told her to celebrate our Declaration of Independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. She responded with an uninterested, "Oh." (I should note that her saying "Oh" was also "Oh you are never getting in my pants you orange haired nerd")

I'm willing to bet that all they hear was, "To celebrate our BLAH BLAH BLAH from BLAH BLAH BLAH on July 4, 1776." (which I bet even the date throws them off since anything pre-1999 seems prehistoric to them).

Writer Mark Bauerlein's book, "The Dumbest Generation" made a fantastic point with an excerpt about 1776:

"Think of how many things you must do in order NOT to know the year 1776 or the British prime minister or the Fifth Amendment. At the start, you must forget the lessons of school-history class, social studies, government, geography, English, philosophy, and art history. You must care nothing about current events, elections, foreign policy, and war. No newspapers, no political magazines, no NPR or Rush Limbaugh, no CNN, Fox News, network news or NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. No books on the Cold War or the Found, no biographies, nothing on Bush or Hillary, terrorism or religion, Europe or the Middle East. No political activity and no community activism. And your friends must act the same way, never letting a historical fact or current affair slip into a cell phone exchange.

It isn't enough to say that these young people are uninterested in world realities. They are actively cut off from them. Or a better way to put it is to say that they are encased in more immediate realities that shut out conditions beyond-friends, work, clothes, cars, pop music, sitcoms, Facebook. Each day, the information they receive and the interactions they have must be so local or superficial that the facts of government, foreign and domestic affairs, the historical past, and the fine arts never slip through. How do they do it?"

However, the average MS voter's opinions on the size of government, tax policy, regulations, and energy would do far more good for the economy

So, 'the economy' means the rich, cheesepizza?  Perhaps you are 'smart', not many people understand that.

A lot of poor ordinary Mississippians vote republican simply because they prefer a smaller government and less taxes. The republican party isn't owned by rich businessmen like a lot of people assume.

Important part bolded.

It's probably the classic "Hitler and the Nazis were socialists right-wingers" talking point idiot right left wingers and libertarians liberals love to bring up.

But most of the rich businessmen nowadays are Democrats.

And to answer your question, no I will not shut up, because many of the same people who accuse me of partisan hackery are engaging in it themselves.

It would lead to less diversity in schools, and is not welcome, and on another note, I helped stop a proposal for school uniforms at my school.

You're doing great work! Smiley

Horrible Requirement IMO unless its those Japanese schoolgirl uniforms only for those who are appropriately attractive

My whole problem with this case is trying to feel any sympathy for Treyvon Martin. Treyvon is the epidemy of everything most average Americans hate. "Pothead", "Thug", "Hood", "PULL UP YOUR PANTS!", "Violent temper", "Thief".

When dealing with people like that, regardless of their color, I have zero tolerance. Thus as far as I'm concerned, it was self-defense against a person who was the worst of America.

People always say I'm cold hearted, but I am not. If a woman is walking down the streets and attacked, I feel sympathy for her and want a harsh punishment for her attacker. If the woman was walking down the street to buy meth, well then she did it to herself and I feel no sympathy. See? I don't think that's too far out of the mainstream.

If I were POTUS then I would go for something like Cain's 999 plan.
If I were emperor or some sort, I would focus less on exact tax structure but push for a political system where a persons vote is linked to the amount of taxes he/she paid.  Something like you get 1 vote in all elections if you pay $5000 or less in federal taxes, $5K-$10K will get you 2 votes and so on with some sort of cap, perhaps 20 votes a person.  Or I can use a Logarithmic function on the federal taxes you pay and derive your vote.  Same basic affect.  This way a low income majority can raise taxes on the rich only by having to face a rich majority of votes in the next election and vice versa.  This is how corporations operate, one dollar one vote.

I'd have to go with Option 2.  Nevada is by no means out of reach for Republicans.  It still has sizable populations of Mormons and libertarians, and although the Latinos have made it swing toward Democrats, Republicans certainly can be competitive there as well by changing their tactics and rhetoric on illegal immigration and playing up their social conservatism in Latino outreach (though that's probably not a smart strategy to win moderates, so maybe more in Spanish campaign ads, etc.)  It's also important to remember that as future generations of Latinos assimilate more, they will probably become more supportive of the GOP than they are now.  Whether it'll be enough without stronger outreach is still anybody's guess, though.

I can name a few:

1. Supporting the use of fluorescent lightbulbs over incandescent despite the fact that fluorescent bulbs contain mercury and CFCs

2. Claiming to support human rights and opposing the death penalty while being pro-choice

3. Accuse Republicans of being the "party of the rich" despite having the support of most of America's wealthiest executives and businessmen (includign George Soros, Warren Buffett, and Ted Turner)

4. Accuse Republicans of being "anti-science," while denying science that supports life beginning at conception and naturally-occurring factors in global warming, or contradicts the theory of evolution and links between immunizations and autism

5. Support embryonic stem cell research to "find cures," but oppose unethical research methods on animals

6. Oppose prayer and reading the Bible in school, but are fine with textbooks that propagate Islam and Eastern religions over Christianity/Judaism

7. Claims to be more caring toward women those with special needs/disablities (and accusing Republicans of a "war on women"), but supports allowing sex-selective abortions and abortion of babies known to have special needs or disabilities.

The comment is not only disgusting but also intellectually lazy and slanderous in that it implies that men who oppose abortion do so in an attempt to control women's bodies. A misleading argument doesn't get better when it is repeated a hundred times.

Sadly, there are people that truly believe that that's why Pro Life men are actually against abortion. But Lief is just exaggerating his beliefs on abortion as part of his, at times trollish, act.

I'm "pro-choice" and I'm absolutely sick of the "all pro-lifers are just sexist men who want women barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen at all times". I doubt that line of messaging is winning anyone over anyway.
