It is a worthy cause, but a lot of money. Does anyone else think that this is the best way to acheive this or is it duplicative of other actions, etc etc?

Aren't the current organisations dealing with research funding not sufficant?

We can increase funding towards cancer, without creating a new agency.

Would this garner support if the money were to be shifted towards a pre-existing agency?

I have listed this as mine in the noticeboard and will do so here as well to accept any amendments as friendly should they be forthcomming.

Would a smaller increase be in order than? Perhaps just $2 billion which would serve to at least double the current amount.

Shouldn't it be worded so as to indicate that the $2 billion is in addition to present funding?

Also I take it that you agree that $2 billion is more appropriate then five, I was just putting out feelers for where people are.
