I finally watched that movie.  It made me even more of an admirer of Stevens (and Lincoln) than ever before.  I didn't even know that was possible.

I watched it two weeks ago on my birthday, it was one of my gifts. I want prequels! If Ted Turner won't complete his trilogy, then Spielberg should create his own, "Lincoln-centric" alternative. There is no better time for it than between now and 2015.

Perhaps even a spinoff of sorts about reconstruction that takes the same actors from Lincoln for people like Grant, Stevens and some others.

One of the greatest FFs and Republicans ever.  Not only did he fight for racial equality long before it was cool, he fought against nativism long before it was cool, even within the GOP.
