His first username was simply Mike Assad.

He would have been thought of as one of the least likely posters to be an office holder. IIRC, I don't think that much time passed between his immaturity on Atlas and his running for office.

So ... if he were the nomination, would his posts on this forum come under national scrutiny?  It wouldn't be very fair since he was a teenager at the time, but when has that ever stopped anyone?

Has there been a major political campaign derailed by juvenile Internet posts from long ago?

Nah, most politicians are too old for this to have become a problem. 10 years or so from now it will be commonplace though.
