I tried to tell that to Hagrid that I wasn't interested in voting. But, he didn't take no for an answer. I was perfectly happy sitting out and not participating, as I've stayed away for quite awhile and left you folks with your game. Hagrid here indicates that he was aware of my preferences to be left alone prior to pm'ing me.

Sometimes no, means no, Hagrid. Had he left it at that, that would have been it.

In any case, this has really blown well out of proportion here.

I like Hagrid quite a bit, always have.

Thanks for your participation in our caucus, ex-President Napoleon. I'm sure the way to win friends and influence people is to follow your example.

Well, like you said, ex-President.

I'm sure the Federalist Party will get there one dag by following your example.

What I find curious is why an ex-president would care about a former IDS legislator who's never served in any federal capacity at any point in time in a party not his own.

Care to share, Napoleon?

Look, I'm not going to try to tell this party how to do its business, but I think I should put in a word of advice... especially since the election's over. Wink

You can't be a successful party and at the same time try to expel your own members.  When you do that, you not only ask for the demise of your party, you become less likely to reach out to centrists and people who might otherwise become members.  More importantly, it would create more drama for the game, which is the last thing it needs right now.  Now, if Ben runs for office someday on the Federalist label and someone wants to primary him, then that would be a more orderly way to express your disapproval of his actions.  But I, for one, would never consider joining a party that's so hostile to moderates or members who don't always walk the party-line.

Expulsion is a dangerous step to be sure precisely because it can be used against moderates as you say. However, that doesn't mean it can't be used in certain circumstances as a necessity. We expelled people from the RPP, but it never got turned on Afleitch or Marokai Blue.

There is a rule for right of center political party chairman, and it is that the closer you get to winning the big one, the more dependent you are on a strinking number of possible votes. That means you do get kind of desperate and you end up contacting people you would otherwise not and with that runs the risk of this very thing happening. It is so damn easy for one person to scuttle months worth of work in one selfish tirade when you on the right, because there is no margin for error.

I am not going to critique Hagrid for doing what he feels necessary because it is just to easy to Monday morning quarterback a right of center party chairman, until you have had the responsibility of being one. Then you realize it is hell on earth and thus begin to be more understanding.

Well said. I've worked with SJoyce and PiT on campaigns together and I know what it feels like to lose a tight one.

I think Hagrid has done a fantastic job as party chairman and he should be proud of the excellent job that he did this election.

Outreach is tricky business. It involves lots of rejection and can backfire badly on you. I know this from my experiences in both Atlasia and real life. I'd just say that this was an unfortunate result and move on from it.

I've been avoiding this thread to try and keep Kenobi out. I don't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing I gave in. Tongue

Anyhow, sure. 48 hours to nominate locations for our October convention. Go.

Does it have to be technically a city?

Springfield Township, Michigan.

Filled with honest, hardworking folks and a fairly good public library.
