JCL has not gotten back to me. As soon as he does, I will open a vote. If he doesn't get back to me before midnight tonight, a vote goes on regardless. I thought it would be fair for him to at least know we were starting, but we can't wait forever.

SPECIAL SENATE ELECTION PRIMARY

This vote will begin immediately and last for three (3) days. Please order your preferences to indicate which Federalist you believe should recieve our endorsement in the upcoming special election to the senate. Regrettably, the party's endorsement will be withheld from the candidate who loses the primary.

I hope the Federalist Party supports my decision to abide by the Atlasian Constitution and count DemPGH's vote for the Northeast Senate special election. I have also issued an executive order, and proposed legislation, stating the federal constitutions primacy over the regional one (because apparently the relationship needed to be more overtly clarified). This executive order and legislation will give guidance in situations where no Northeast statute exists but a federal statute does.

I'll look into it when I'm back from work.

Hi everyone—

As you’ve noticed (and I’ll put it bluntly), I’m really starting not to give a shit about Atlasia anymore. The Liberal Party is effectively dead, and I should be thriving on the politicking that has followed. I’m not. Instead, I’m seeing just how much this game can wear on you, especially if you’re the poor soul who’s charged with overseeing the Atlasian right. The job has an expiry date, and I’m past it. I’ve now got a pretty demanding position in real life too (I just got back from Halifax where I helped put together a policy conference for the IAFF), and it all adds up to spell out that I can no longer offer Atlasia the attention it requires. A few of us in the Federalist Party have talked a bit about what we’d do if I resign, and I’m now pulling the trigger: Effective immediately, I’m stepping down as chairman of the party.

It has been a good run, I think. Obviously I’m going out on a bit of a bad note, and it’s embarrassing on my part as well, but it is what it is. People on the left have spent a lot of their recent time trying to get me as riled as possible—and, you know, it has partly worked. I dread logging onto Atlasia. Despite the recent snafus, we’ve still come a long way as a party. We’ve opened up good channels of communication, we’ve dealt with some of our internal problems, and we’ve started performing better in elections. That’s all I could’ve asked for. I don’t want to cause too much of a fuss, but let’s look back to the last presidential race. Labor can say whatever they like, but no one—not us, not them—considered Matt a real threat to win. He and Maxwell came up painfully short, but they proved, in the end, that we can actually do this. We don’t have to sell out to win. We’ve got to be respectful, detail-oriented, active, and hardworking. With fresh leadership (and, you know, someone who actually cares enough to show up—sorry Tongue), we can get where we want to go.

I’m not going away indefinitely, but I’m certainly retreating from some of this inter-party bullshit. I’ll continue my duties as senator unless I’m forced out, but I think that’ll be it for the time being. I ain’t running for re-election. As for this chairman thing, I’ve discussed with Goldwater, and he has agreed that it would be in the best interests of the party for him to refrain from ascending to the chairmanship and instead defer to an election. From whenever Goldwater says, there will be two days for folks to put their names in for consideration. After that, there’ll be a three-day vote. Whoever wins will have whatever support they need from me.

So guys—I’m sorry to be abandoning my post, but it is obvious I can no longer serve in the capacity you need me to. All in all, this has been one hell of a job, and I tend to think I’ve done all right. Thank you for being right there with me. It means a lot, and there are many memories I’ll have from this gig for a long time. Fuck whatever this does for our "momentum." In the end, Atlasia isn’t about “winning” like some players in other parties would have you believe. Instead, it’s about meeting new people, learning new things, and working together. I’m glad to have had the chance to do just that with all of you as chairman.

Thanks,

Hagrid

Hagrid, you helped bring me into the game and thank you deeply for that. You were a great leader for a strong chunk of the time you were the chairman of the Federalists and a Senator who added a lot to the discussion. You will be missed as the leader of our party and a leader of our caucus and I think you deserve a salute from all patriotic Federalists and Atlasians. Your service will not be forgotten.

Though I just joined the Federalists, you have been a good friend to me for quite a while on here, and you have served the center-right of Atlasia well. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Smiley
