I'm an A1 guy.  Though Heinz 57 isn't bad on pork or chicken.

My favorite steak dipping sauce is horseradish though Cheesy.

Also 10 death points to the first person that says "GOOD STEAK NEVER NEEDS STEAK SAUCE"

THAT WASN'T THE QUESTION.  Smiley

A good steak needs no sauce (just lots of salt, pepper, and garlic. ) Tongue

But A1.

I love Heinz 57 on any kind of meat.

Steak sauce is best as something to dip your fries in.

Yeah, in the past year or two I've been introduced to the beauty that is horseradish cream for dipping, or even a good mustard. I also have discovered a little garlic butter melted over the top, or squeezing a lemon over the steak (mainly because of a Japanese restaurant, which had a small pile of salt in a dish, with a piece of lemon, and the resultant salty-lemony sauce for dipping is now probably my preference). Actually, a creamy blue cheese sauce is good, too.

Prior to these horizons being broadened, my preference was always for a pepper sauce of some description. I am, however, completely fine with the steak being served with no sauce.

I'll usually marinade a rougher cut in some worcestershire, A1 and spice medley before I cook it. That typically does the trick. I like the taste of the meat so don't use it once cooked.

A1, but I prefer teriyaki sauce myself, soaking the meat overnight. And eating bad red meat is just bad. If you are going to eat something that is naughty, it ought to be good. Otherwise, eat chicken or turkey or fish.

Béarnaise.

Or chimichurri if it's that kind of steak.

I don't eat grilled steak.  Cheap steak is better done as country-fried steak, and I don't derive sufficient gratification from the good stuff to justify the cost to me.  I do not have a refined palate and I'm not currently trying to impress anyone with conspicuous consumption.

But seriously, if you're using steak sauce, you aren't eating a good piece of meat. Shame on you.

A1 slathered across rubbery tickets of London broil is a choice summer dish amongst too-big families in too-small houses. It's hard not to be a bit nostalgic, reminds me of barefoot summers full of mud and mosquito bites as a kid.

I don't use it, as steak usually tastes good enough without it. However, if I were to use it, I'd use A1.

Steak elitism seems fairly widespread...meh, a good burger is better than a good steak and a bad burger is better than a bad steak.

If steak needs sauce, it isn't a good steak.

But, HP sauce when it is overdone.

Really it depends on the cut of meat, and how I do pre prep on the meat.  If I soak it in wine, or a nice mixture of different things, then no, I need no Steak Sauce, but if I only put on a dry rub, then I would prefer A1.

That's simply not true.  Many people prefer a sauce with it.  Some of the finest steakhouses on earth make their own steak sauce and sell it to non-customers as well.

I won't say that no condiment sauces are necessary if the steak is done right, since your original post indicates that you already know that.  I'll just vote other.  I think we understand one another.

I can live without sauce, but I would say A1.  Though Heinz 57 is good, too.

Don't use steak sauces per se, but I love a good pepper sauce on my steak.
